(1) Diventarono i primi NWA World Tag Team Champions della Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, compagnia progenitrice della World Championship Wrestling.
(2) Al termine di un torneo a cui parteciparono altri dieci team sancito per riassegnare le cinture vacanti. I titoli furono resi vacanti dall’NWA nell’aprile del 1978 poiché Flair e Valentine facevano terminare continuamente per squalifica i loro match.
(3) Al termine di un torneo sancito per riassegnare i titoli, resi vacanti dall’NWA nel dicembre del 1981 in seguito a un infortunio occorso a Gene Anderson. Ole Anderson continuò tuttavia a difendere il titolo in Georgia Championship Wrestling, lottando insieme a Buzz Sawyer, nel gennaio del 1982.
(4) Al termine di un torneo, in realtà mai disputato, per riassegnare le cinture vacanti, battendo in finale Antonio Inoki & Giant Baba. I titoli furono resi vacanti nel settembre del 1982 dall’NWA, che costrinse Anderson e Hansen a rinunciarvi.
(5) Al termine di un torneo sancito per riassegnare i titoli vacanti, battendo in finale Jimmy Valiant & Dory Funk Jr.. I titoli furono resi vacanti dall’NWA il 25 dicembre 1983, dopo che Steamboat annunciò il suo ritiro.
(6) Al termine del match Ivan Koloff e suo fratello Nikita turnarono su Kernodle, infortunandolo gravemente in storyline.
(7) Nel corso di questo regno Krusher Khrushchev [1] si unì ai Koloff formando un unico team a tre uomini. La NWA concesse loro di usare la Freebird Rule, permettendo a tutti e tre i membri di difendere i titoli.

(9) Insigniti dei titoli dopo un match fantasma tenuto a Spokane, nello stato di Washington, battendo in storyline Fernandez e Ivan Koloff (che aveva sostituito Rude dopo che quest’ultimo era andato in WWF). Fu inoltre mostrato un precedente match tenuto tra i Rock ‘n’ Roll Express e Fernandez & Rude.
(10) In un No Disqualification match. I Midnight Express attaccarono i Rock ‘n’ Roll Express mentre questi si dirigevano al ring, infortunando Ricky Morton. Robert Gibson lottò la maggior parte del match da solo, ma quando l’infortunato Morton tornò sul ring fu immediatamente messo in una presa di sottomissione da Blanchard. Gibson decise di arrendersi piuttosto che rischiare un infortunio più serio a Morton.
(11) Windham turnò su Luger e si unì poi ai Four Horsemen.
(12) Anderson e Blanchard lasciarono per la WWE dopo questo match.
(13) L’arbitro Teddy Long effettuò un conto veloce su Road Warrior Hawk, avviando il suo turn heel che lo avrebbe poi visto licenziato dalle vesti di arbitro e diventare dunque un manager.
(14) Al termine di un torneo per riassegnare le cinture vacanti, battendo in finale i Midnight Express. Il 7 maggio 1989 la NWA costrinse Rotunda e Williams a dichiarare vacanti le cinture poiché i membri del Varsity Club Kevin Sullivan e Dan Spivey attaccarono lo special guest referee Nikita Koloff durante la difesa titolata del Varsity Club contro i Road Warriors a WrestleWar 1989.
(15) Durante questo regno i titoli cambiarono denominazione poiché la Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, che già da tempo aveva cambiato nome in World Championship Wrestling, li rinominò WCW World Tag Team Titles.
(16) Al termine di un torneo sancito per riassegnare i titoli, resi vacanti il 20 luglio 1991 per un infortunio al bicipite di Scott Steiner, battendo in finale Rick Steiner & Bill Kazmaier.
(17) Il 12 luglio 1992 Gordy e Williams conquistarono anche gli NWA World Tag Team Championship, che da quel momento furono considerati unificati ai WCW World Tag Team Championship; da quel momento in poi fino alla scissione tra la WCW e l’NWA i due titoli furono difesi insieme.
(18) Il 1º settembre 1993 Anderson e Roma furono privati degli NWA World Tag Team Titles in seguito alla scissione tra la WCW e l’NWA. Da quel momento in poi i due titoli non furono più difesi insieme.
(19) Il presidente della WCW Eric Bischoff tolse i titoli agli Steiner Brothers e li ridiede agli Outsiders poiché a contare il pin nel loro titlematch fu l’arbitro della WCW Randy Anderson, che non era un arbitro ufficiale al PPV dove gli Steiners conquistarono i titoli, Souled Out.
(20) Il presidente della WCW Eric Bischoff restituì i titoli agli Outsiders perché Lex Luger non aveva ottenuto l’autorizzazione a lottare a Superbrawl, PPV dove lui e The Giant vinsero i titoli. Anche a Syxx [1] viene riconosciuto un regno, in quanto l’nWo invocò le “Wolfpac Rules” e nominò Syxx co-campione dopo un infortunio riportato da Nash.
(21) Battendo Hall e Syxx per i titoli.
(22) Gli Outsiders vinsero i titoli dopo che Scott turnò su Rick e si unì all’nWo.
(23) Sting e The Giant vinsero i titoli dopo che Hall turnò su Nash e lo colpì con una delle cinture.
(24) Durante il regno Sting e The Giant decisero di rompere il loro tag team e la WCW dichiarò vacanti i loro titoli il 2 giugno 1998. I due si affrontarono poi in un match singolo per il controllo dei WCW World Tag Team Titles, che il vincitore avrebbe poi potuto difendere con un tag team partner a sua scelta. Sting vinse il match a The Great American Bash e la sera dopo, a Nitro, scelse Kevin Nash come suo tag team partner.
(25) Steiner e Buff Bagwell sconfissero The Giant e Scott Steiner, sostituto di un infortunato Nash. Poiché Bagwell turnò su Rick Steiner durante il match, a quest’ultimo fu permesso di scegliere un nuovo tag team partner con cui difendere i titoli e lui scelse Kaos la sera successiva a Nitro.
(26) Al termine di un torneo sancito per riassegnare i titoli vacanti, battendo in finale Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko. Le cinture furono rese vacanti dalla WCW il 4 gennaio 1999 dopo un infortunio alla gamba occorso a Rick Steiner.
(27) In un Tag Team Triangle match a cui parteciparono anche Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko.
(28) Battendo Perry Saturn e Chris Kanyon, che sostituì un infortunato Raven.
(29) Saturn sostituì Ric Flair, partner originale di Benoit, che però andò via durante il match lasciando solo Benoit.
(30) Page e Kanyon vinsero i titoli, che però vennero difesi anche da Bam Bam Bigelow grazie alla Freebird Rule.

(32) In un Triple Threat Street Fight match sancito per riassegnare i titoli vacanti, battendo i Filthy Animals (Konnan & Billy Kidman) e Bryan Knobbs & Hugh Morrus. I titoli furono resi vacanti il 24 ottobre 1999 in seguito a un infortunio alla gamba riportato da Rey Misterio Jr.
(33) Grazie a questo regno entrambi i campioni divennero Triple Crown Champions allo stesso tempo.
(34) Al termine di un torneo per riassegnare i titoli vacanti, battendo in finale Kevin Nash & Scott Steiner. I titoli erano stati resi vacanti il 27 dicembre 1999 a causa di un infortunio riportato da Scott Hall.
(35) Al termine di un torneo sancito per riassegnare i titoli vacanti, battendo in finale The Total Package & Ric Flair. I titoli erano stati resi vacanti il 10 aprile 2000 dai presidenti della WCW Vince Russo ed Eric Bischoff, che avevano deciso di far ripartire da zero la compagnia.
(36) In una Battle Royal sancita per riassegnare i titoli. Il 18 settembre 2000 la WCW aveva costretto Misterio Jr. e Guerrera a riconsegnare i loro titoli.

(39) Questo regno è l’ultimo a essere riconosciuto dalla World Championship Wrestling prima che questa fosse acquistata dalla World Wrestling Federation; i titoli furono rinominati WCW Tag Team Titles.
(40) Il 18 novembre 2001, a Survivor Series, i WCW Tag Team Champions, i Dudley Boyz, sconfissero i WWF Tag Team Champions, gli Hardy Boyz, in un match di unificazione delle due cinture. Di conseguenza i Dudley Boyz divennero campioni unici della compagnia, mentre i WCW Tag Team Titles vennero disattivati e ritirati.
