Direi che siamo un po' in ritardo, ormai i PPV/eventi speciali sono tutti finiti, so che questo topic è secondario rispetto a quello dei TW Forum Awards, ma per chi volesse, ecco gli Slammy TW del 2022. Mi sono permesso di introdurre una categoria nuova, cioè il promo dell'anno (lo so che di solito andava inserito nel segment/moment dell'anno, ma mi piacerebbe una categoria specifica per i promo, anche monologhi). Ho rimosso il Cinematic Match, che ormai è retaggio del periodo covid.

Wrestler of the year: nonostante tutti i record del Tribal Chief, ci metto Sami Zayn, troppo fatta bene la sua scrittura per essere ignorata.
Tag Team of the year: The Usos, facile. Match magari non tanto variegati ma quando lottano loro c'è sempre un discreto hype per vedere cosa succederà.
Match of the year: non tanto per la bellezza quanto per l'importanza storica: Steve Austin vs. KO a WM 38.
Feud of the year: ci metterei Rhodes vs Rollins anche se non mi ha fatto veramente impazzire.
Face of the year: Seth Rollins. Ok è stato heel per mezzo anno ma sempre al centro di match importanti; se non lui allora boh, Cody Rhodes.
Heel of the year: Per quanto secondo me non sia propriamente heel, impossibile non mettere Roman Reigns.
Rookie/Newcomer of the year: Non potendo mettere Austin Theory che tecnicamente ha debuttato a ottobre 2021, metto Solo Sikoa.
Most improved wrestler of the year: Jey Uso che come acting sta chiudendo un anno clamoroso.
Best female: Rhea Ripley, che emerge senza dubbio da un mare quasi uniforme di piattume.
Best in-ring performer: Chad Gable per i maschi, Rhea Ripley per le femmine.
Best on mic: Sami Zayn, ma ci sono stati grandi momenti anche per The Miz (che è sempre una garanzia) e Seth Rollins.

Worst turn: Edge che viene pestato dal JD e turna face così, dovendo pure giustificare un mese di promo in cui dice alla gente che è scema.
Worst female: Qui c'è l'imbarazzo della scelta, vado con il carico pesante e dico Bianca Belair che, a parte essere super palestrata, non ha altre qualità. Ah e quella treccia mi sta sul cazzo. Scusa Monthez.
Overrated wrestler of the year: Baron Corbin che non sa di nulla manco dopo il repackage con JBL (anzi è pure sparito).
Underrated wrestler of the year: The Miz che rimane molto criticato ma è interessante anche in feud pessimi (vedasi le tiny balls e il feud con Lumis)
Worst treatment of the year: Drew McIntyre, una fugace apparizione nel main event e poi via a feudare nel mid/low card.
Worst gimmick: Questa per me è una nota dolente e vado con Ezekiel, Elias' younger brother. Pensavo che con KO potesse uscirne dell'ottimo comedy ma è crollato tutto come un castello di carte.
Most disappointing wrestler of the year: AJ Styles che da quando sono tornato a seguire (ossia l'ultimo anno in pratica) non è mai stato in nessun feud un minimo interessante nonostante abbia potenzialità per occupare fisso il main event. E odio i suoi capelli.
Worst newcomer/rookie: Veer Mahan, mamma mia.
Worst comeback: Karrion Kross
"You're Fired" of the year: Mi sa che l'unico è stato Lashley...
MEGALOL moment/segment of the year: Dexter Lumis che spunta da sotto il ring, che in quel momento è stato pure divertente ma poi il feud è andato a farsi benedire.

Most improved wrestler of the year: Mei Suruga. E niente, io la adoro e sono contentissimo che stia iniziando a girare tra le varie federazioni. Il match contro AZM in Stardom è un gioiello.
Best female: Suzu Suzuki Pur perdendo, è una di quelle lottatrici che ti rimane impressa nella mente. Matta scocciata come un cavallo...e ha 20 anni!
Best in-ring performer: Josh Alexander. Purtroppo Impact se lo filano in pochi. La scelta di restare ad Impact anziché andare in AEW gli ha garantito la centralità assoluta dello show. Garanzia assoluta di match intensi e fantastici.

Per quanto se ne voglia dire e per quanti limiti possa avere, è l'unica vera stella del wrestling post Cena. Inoltre, seppure ci abbiano messo una decina di anni, gli hanno finalmente trovato la quadra giusta.
Tag Team of the year: THE ACCLAIMED
Nonostante l'anno stellare degli FTR e i soliti Usos che restano tra i migliori tag team di sempre, vorrei dare un premio a Bowens e Caster che sono riusciti a spiccare in un roster affollato come quello della AEW, togliendosi di dosso quell'aura da jobbers e finire al vertice della divisione tag.
Match of the year: CODY RHODES vs. SETH ROLLINS - WRESTLEMANIA 38
Non mi limito a votare la sola qualità del match, perché è indubbio che conti pure lo showcase e l'atmosfera che si viene a creare attorno ad un match e quello tra Cody e Seth a WM 38 ha tutti questi fattori. Menzione d'onore anche alla continuazione della serie FTR vs. Briscoes che anche nel 2022 non ha deluso.

Indubbiamente un feud generazionale e, con il talento che entrambi hanno al microfono, abbiamo assistito anche ad una bella guerra al microfono.
Face of the year: CM PUNK
Nonostante il suo stint in AEW ha lasciato (almeno per ora) molto amaro in bocca, quando ha dovuto fare il suo lavoro l'ha sempre fatto divinamente.
Heel of the year: ROMAN REIGNS
Funziona, c'è ben poco da aggiungere. Come detto sopra è l'unica vera "stella" del wrestling odierno.
Rookie/Newcomer of the year: SOLO SIKOA
Ero indeciso con Logan Paul, ma mi sento di premiare Solo perché presumo che avrà una carriera da wrestler più continuativa di Logan Paul che non riesco a vedere come membro fisso del roster, ma più come un'attrazione speciale. Menzione d'onore per quest'ultimo comunque per il match di Crown Jewel con Roman.
Most improved wrestler of the year: RICKY STARKS
Wrestler completo per uno show mainstream. Sul ring non sarà un fenomeno, ma il suo lavoro lo fa. Al microfono ci sa fare, ha carisma e funziona sia da heel che da face. Hanno pure rischiato di ammazzargli il momentum dopo il feud con Hobbs, ma per fortuna non se lo sono scordati in soffitta mandandolo subito contro MJF.
Best female: RHEA RIPLEY
Ancora non mi spiego cosa aspettino a darle una cintura. Spettacolare la sua annata, addirittura è diventata l'unico spunto interessante di quella stable della morte che è il JD. Tra l'altro in questa versione simil Chyna e con la gimmick da mistress gotica guadagna punti a prescindere.
Best in-ring performer: DAX HARWOOD
Annata pazzesca la sua. Quest'anno fatico a trovare un match che ha cannato. Wrestler che mi piace tantissimo anche in singolo.
Best on mic: MJF
Le sue abilità al microfono sono innegabili e anche quest'anno non ha deluso.
Best gimmick: HONORARY UCE/"UCEY"/SAMI USO/SAMI USO/ZAYN
Una gimmick che si è creato praticamente da solo riuscendo a creare interesse intorno al personaggio. Era diventato praticamente un jobber, ma adesso è il fulcro della storyline principale della federazione. Lavoro esemplare che va premiato.

Ce ne sarebbero molti, purtroppo per la maggior parte femminili. Tuttavia, questo è stato di gran lunga il peggiore per quanto mi riguarda. Imbarazzante.

Worst PPV / iPPV / Special Event: AEW ALL OUT
Evento che verrà ricordato quasi esclusivamente per la rissa Punk/Elite. Show abbastanza impalpabile, anche un paio di match buoni, ma nulla che è rimasto vivo nella memoria.
Worst feud: KEVIN OWENS vs. EZEKIEL
Più che altro un'occasione sprecata. Erano partiti alla grande, ma col tempo hanno abbandonato la nave. Un vero peccato perché all'inizio si sono toccate vette di trash mica male ed il potenziale per andare oltre c'era ed era altissimo.

Rispetto agli anni scorsi ho trovato il prodotto meno godibile. Non sono mancate cose belle, ma nemmeno cose brutte, purtroppo.

Una gimmick che si è creato praticamente da solo riuscendo a creare interesse intorno al personaggio. Era diventato praticamente un jobber, ma adesso è il fulcro della storyline principale della federazione. Lavoro esemplare che va premiato.

Ce ne sarebbero molti, purtroppo per la maggior parte femminili. Tuttavia, questo è stato di gran lunga il peggiore per quanto mi riguarda. Imbarazzante.

Worst PPV / iPPV / Special Event: AEW ALL OUT
Evento che verrà ricordato quasi esclusivamente per la rissa Punk/Elite. Show abbastanza impalpabile, anche un paio di match buoni, ma nulla che è rimasto vivo nella memoria.
Worst feud: KEVIN OWENS vs. EZEKIEL
Più che altro un'occasione sprecata. Erano partiti alla grande, ma col tempo hanno abbandonato la nave. Un vero peccato perché all'inizio si sono toccate vette di trash mica male ed il potenziale per andare oltre c'era ed era altissimo.

Rispetto agli anni scorsi ho trovato il prodotto meno godibile. Non sono mancate cose belle, ma nemmeno cose brutte, purtroppo.

Mai visto il Black dei tempi d'oro di NXT. Comincio a pensare che in un contesto più mainstream faccia fatica. La House of Black è potenzialmente una figata, ma un po' per il booking e un po' per gli interpreti mi ha sempre deluso.
Worst newcomer/rookie: BOBBY FISH
Credo che il suo stint in AEW sia ai limiti dell'insulso.

Feud of the year: Josh Alexander VS Moose. Iniziato al BFG precedente, coronato nel modo migliore.
Face of the year: Josh Alexander. Il Top Face perfetto.
Heel of the year: Moose. Il Top Heel perfetto.
Rookie/Newcomer of the year: Kon. Oh, a Impact Wrestling è un newcomer, dato che il suo primo match è stato a febbraio contro Josh Alexander, ed è già convincente nei nuovi VBD..
Most improved wrestler of the year: Steve Maclin. Volato nell'uppercard.
Best female: Jordynne Grace. Intramontabile quest'anno.
Best in-ring performer: Josh Alexander. Non si schioda dal vertice.
Best on mic: JBL. In quanto a promo, dà ancora lezioni a tutti.
