Wrestling nerd already has five “Match of the Year” candidates

Andrew Greene, a self-described “internet wrestling journalist” from Miami, has already amassed a list of five “Match of the Year” candidates, despite the year having started mere hours ago.

Since the stroke of midnight on December 31, Greene has been scouring the internet in search of match reports from professional wrestling organizations around the globe.

Although Greene hasn’t actually seen any of the bouts on his so-called “2014 M.O.T.Y. Shortlist,” he is confident that at least one of the following will receive unanimous Match of the Year honors within the next 364 days:

Taiji Ishimori vs. Atsushi Kotoge (Pro Wrestling NOAH, Kyoto, Jan. 1, 2014)
Johnny Gargano vs. Gregory Iron (AIW, Cleveland, Jan. 1, 2014)
Warhed vs. Jesse Amato (Deathproof Wrestling, Toronto, Jan. 1, 2014)
Tetsuya Naito vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (New Japan Pro Wrestling, Kobe, Jan. 1, 2014)
Freight Train vs. Big Donny (5DW, Concord, NC, Jan. 1, 2014)
Greene, who is considering hollering to his parents to bring down some grilled cheese sandwiches soon, has written on several online wrestling forums that he has compiled “the definitive must-see wrestling list of 2014.”

Friends and family describe Greene as “in desperate need of a new hobby.”
