Oddio, la reazione di Funk, arbitri e dirigenti, infatti, sembra tutto fuorché "programmata", così come la fatica di Foley a rimanere in piedi dopo aver ripreso i sensi pare troppo reale per non essere vera.
Dovrebbe parlarne pure nel DVD.

Ma infatti la reazione di Funk e degli altri non era programmata, ma era tutto dovuto alla sedia caduta in faccia a Foley, piuttosto che al volo dalla cima della gabbia.

Quando Foley più o meno si riprende dalla botta (2/3 minuti dopo), tornano a combattere seguendo una logica, e non mi pare normale dato il booking originale (o presunto tale) prevedeva che i due dovevano rimanare in cima alla gabbia.

Beh ma immagino che a un certo punto fosse comunque programmata la discesa, dubito che tutto il match era da svolgersi sul tetto della gabbia.

Ho fatto qualche ricerca e dal libro di Funk, "More than just hardcore", ho ripreso questa parte.

Mick and I drove up to Pittsburgh where the match was being held, and he was talking about how he wanted to do something spectacular and memroabile. We somehow came up with the idea of Cactus taking a bigg fall off the top.
Then, after he came back, to everyone's amazement, undertaker would still be on the top of the cage and would chokeslam him onto the cage roof.

The same prop guy was supposed to make sure the two sides of the cage were secure, so the impact from Mick's body would cause the top of the cage to sag ad gradually come open, so mick would tumble into the ring. It would be a hell of a spectacular bump, but Mick figured he'd have the cage breaking his fall.

Well, if you saw the match, you know the fall from the top was awesome. Mick just couldn't timed it or mapped out his landing any better. You also know that when he went back up, the top of the cage didn't hold at all. The props guy didn't rig it properly, so when Undertaker gave him the choke slam, Cactus went right through the roof, like a warm knife through butter and hit the mat like a piece of lead.

Watching from the back, i thought he was dead. I ran out there and looked down at him, still lying in the ring where he'd landed. His eyes weren't rolled back in his head, but they looked totally glazed over, like a dead fish's eyes.

I got up and went over to the Undertaker, who was standing next to the people checking on Mick, ad I told him: "He's not going to be here. That's it. Cactus isn't going to make it.

But we saw him coming around a little ad decided to buy some time, so Undertaker gave me a couple of punches and choke slammed me. We just wanted to do anything do give them some time, because we thought Mick was going out of there in an ambulance. I guess I figured I would finish up the deal in the ring with Undertaker while they took care of Cactus.

He gave me the choke slam, and I looked over, and here came Cactus! He was getting up. I was amazed! I could not believe he was even conscious, but he made it to his feet and finished the match, even doing their planned finish with Cactus falling into a pile of thumbtacks before getting pinned.

Quindi in sostanza la gabbia doveva si cedere, ma non in quel modo: gradualmente e non di botto.

Ma sopratutto, perchè Funk chiama Foley "Cactus" nel libro?

La seconda non era prevista. Fu fortunato perchè saltò pochissimo nella chokeslam e riuscì a cadere abbastanza bene a terra (dice che se fosse saltato piu alto sarebbe caduto di testa). Andò mezzo KO e Taker lo rianimò a pugni

Però non capisco, se la chokeslam non era programmata così, perché è saltato così poco? L'avrebbe venduta da schifo.

Comunque hanno rischiato di cadere tutti e due ad inizio match, la cima stava per cedere e farli cadere male.

Oltre al fatto che darsi lo slancio su una superficie così instabile è difficile, credo che Foley non volesse comunque esagerare nel salto proprio per evitare di far cedere in un solo colpo la gabbia.

Troppo pochi te ne hanno dati. Sarà per quello che dormi in piedi...

Dario mi manchi. Un tempo Dicembre era il nostro mese... il mese delle scaramucce & degli amori...

E niente, me lo sono appena rivisto, e volevo condividerlo. Porca miseria che battaglia, forse se vogliamo anche più violento del match con The Rock alla Rumble dell'anno prima. E' un continuo di botte da orbi, con Foley che tira fuori tutti i suoi assi nella manica e un HHH stoico che gli sta dietro. Sono rimasto colpito dal Pedigree finale, con Foley che va con la faccia nelle puntine senza un minimo di protezione. Impressionante.
