On Wednesday, WWE made a series of talent and staff cuts due to the impacts of the coronavirus on WWE’s budget.

Word got out on Wednesday morning that WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon would be sending out a video to all employees where he would address the widespread cuts that would be incoming.

The video of the call only lasted about two minutes that featured McMahon talking and stating that the cuts were due to the economic instability. Fightful Select was able to get access to the call and wrote up a transcript of the call.

McMahon started out by stating he hopes all employees and their families are safe. He called the issues related to the coronavirus unprecedented, and there’s no doubt these are challenging times for everyone.

McMahon stated that WWE is like so many companies that would have to decrease operating expenses. This is where he announced all of the cuts such as reducing executive and board member compensation and improving our cash flow by delaying the production of their new headquarters.

“Despite all these measures, given the uncertainty, we are facing today, unfortunately, we have to temporarily reduce headcount. As such, a number of WWE employees will be furloughed from the company today.”

As reported, McMahon stated that after the call was over, employees would receive a communication detailing their individual situations. He said that those impacted by the furloughs will receive a text message from HR for more information.

“These are not easy decisions but reflect the reality of the environment we’re working in today. We live in a world of troubled times. I’m confident as a company, and most importantly, confident in you as individual employees, will pull through these tough times and come back to work and make life better than it’s ever been. Thank you.”

Once the call was over, the company started to release talent.

The current list of cuts includes wrestlers, producers, announcers, other on-air talents, coaches, a referee, and a creative writer. Click here for the updated list of names released so far.

Era più facile in questo momento trovare un accordo con la NJPW rispetto all'AEW, sia per una questione di costi che magari di scelte, visto che magari Cody e soci avranno messo una priorità maggiore a bloccare i Revival rispetto agli altri team, comunque cercando di evitare sovraffollamento.

Loro erano indubbiamente quelli che avrebbero trovato un loro spazio. In NJPW per rientrare nel BC sfruttando anche Anderson come sfidante singolo in varie occasioni, così come in AEW con collegamenti vicino all'Elite.

Il discorso però è sempre quello. Ora in Giappone c'è una nuova ondata di contagi e vanno verso il lockdown, per i gaijin rischia di essere un casino in ottica di spostamenti, specie considerando che uno dei loro motivi noti per cui sono andati in WWE è che rientrando negli USA potevano stare vicini alle famiglie, solo che in questo momento evidentemente non è pensabile che in AEW possano fare delle acquisizioni in questo momento.

In futuro potrebbero anche gestirsi come Moxley, Jericho e altri, questo è vero, ma intanto vanno sul sicuro.

La AEW tempo fa era interessata piu a Gallows/Anderson che non ai Revivals. Poi Vince propose quel triennale da 1 milione l'anno e i due accettarono mentre i Revivals erano assolutamente decisi a cambiare. E alla fine gli ha detto bene.
Anche Luke Harper ha avuto fortuna a lberarsi in tempo. Ancora un po e rischiava di rimanere a spasso

Scusate una domanda, ho letto che gli atleti di NXT non saranno pagati per 30 giorni, ma tutti o solo quelli che non si esibiscono?
Perché se non pagano anche quelli che lavorano sono dei bastardi

What we’re going through today is unprecedented, and there’s no doubt these are challenging times for everyone. Given the adverse effects of the Coronavirus and the resulting financial recession, WWE, like so many companies have to decrease operating expenses.
Effective immediately, we are reducing executive and board member compensation, decreasing talent expenses, cutting third party staffing and consulting, and improving our cash flow by delaying the production of our new headquarters for at least six months.
Despite all these measures, given the uncertainty we are facing today, unfortunately, we have to temporarily reduce head count. As such, a number of WWE employees will be furloughed from the company today.

At the close of my remarks, employees will receive a communication detailing their individual situations. More specifically, those impacted by the furloughs will receive a text message from Human Resources with specific information for their next steps.

No, i talenti di NXT rilasciati (solo quelli) saranno pagati per i prossimi 30 giorni.

Allora, da quel che ho capito leggendo qua e là chi ha contratti da prospetto NXT ha diritto a 30 giorni extra di paga dopo il licenziamento, chi invece ha un contratto da main roster ha diritto a tre mesi di paga. Non so come funzioni per gli altri ruoli.

È esattamente il contrario: pagano un mese extra ai licenziati.

Comunque i contratti della wwe sono una vera merda. Troppo esageratamente sbilanciati dalla parte del datore di lavoro, con i dipendenti che hanno praticamente zero tutela. È assolutamente ridicolo che anche chi firma un contratto triennale ( anderson e gallows ) possa essere unilateralmente licenziato. Molti europei crescono col mito degli Usa e sognano di vivere li...nella realtà dei fatti, tra sanitá privata, diseguaglianze sociali, capitalismo estremo...deve essere una discreta merda vivere li ( a meno che uno non sia ricco di suo ) ...
