Aspetta, forse intendi Invasion Attack 2013?

Tra l'altro, anche io ho confuso le date. Perdo colpi.

Io l'ho messo in lista, ma non credo che gli darò la palma. Fu un grande match è rimane uno dei miei Tana/Okada preferiti, e diede una notevolissima spinta al push di Okada, che si può dire che da lì divenne il grande wrestler che è oggi.

Però penso di voler premiare il loro match del Kingdom 2016, ad oggi il loro apice.

Magari con un ex aequo a Okada/Omega.

Wrestler of the decade: Will Ospreay. Ha attraversato e si è evoluto nel decennio passando da grande promessa ad uno dei migliori wrestler del mondo.
Tag Team of the decade: The Young Bucks. Anche se mi hanno deluso in questi ultimi due anni, sono stati un team eccellente, al centro dell’attenzione quasi ovunque.

Non ho vissuto il feud real time, ma recuperato tutto successivamente. Il mio preferito tra Okada e Tana resta quello di WK 10, subito dopo Kopw e quello di invasion Attack. Però vedo che sono in minoranza e la maggior parte preferisce appunto quest'ultimo. Restano dei capolavori in ogni caso

MALE WRESTLER OF THE DECADE: Kazuchika Okada (ex aequo/Hiroshi Tanahashi)
In verità, vi dico che sono combattuto: e se fosse il contrario? Testa e cuore mi fanno propendere verso il ragazzo di Anjo, ma la sua storia, in questa decade, corre di pari passo con quella di Tanahashi, facendo dei due anime assolutamente complementari; motivo per cui non posso escludere il Tana dal podio, in quanto l’uno completa l’altro - o almeno io in questo modo ho interpretato la loro leggenda. Tanahashi è stato indubbiamente l’artefice della crescita professionale di Okada, coprendo alcune sue mancanze, l'acerbezza (soprattutto nei primi match), conducendolo per mano, insomma, nel suo cammino. Un giovane Okada che, ricordo, nel 2012/2013 era anche abbastanza inviso ad alcuni fans della NJPW, i quali vedevano in lui un azzardo e un atleta sopravvalutato. Eppure, in dieci lunghissimi anni, è cresciuto in modo spropositato sia sul ring che fuori, divenendo se non il primo, almeno il secondo “Ace” della New Japan Pro Wrestling. Ma anche lui è stato fondamentale per Tanahashi: è stato la sua bestia nera, il suo avversario più temuto e temerario. Di certo, la legittimità di “Ace” o top face della compagnia, il Tana lo deve moltissimo anche a Okada.

FEMALE WRESTLER OF THE DECADE: Charlotte Flair

Nuovamente, vi devo segnalare che non seguo STARDOM o altre federazioni femminili. Naturale, dunque, che il mio giudizio sarà circoscritto alla sola WWE. Ebbene, so già che qualcuno storcerà il naso di fronte a questa scelta, ammetto, MOLTO controversa. Innanzi tutto, non vi dò tutti i torti. Non sono esattamente un fan della figlia di Ric, e penso, anzi, che almeno una decina di altre ragazze nel roster femminile WWE, le cagano beatamente in testa. In primis le altre tre Horsewomen. No, il voto dato a Charlotte è puramente simbolico. E’ un voto dato a questa “revolution” (di cui, onestamente, fatico ancora a crederci), di cui lei è stata sicuramente la portavoce principale e la punta diamante intorno al quale hanno gravitato tutte le principali storie inerenti alla categoria. Una WWE che finalmente si libera, dopo moltissimi anni, di una cintura e di una categoria che fino ad allora rappresentava una pausa cesso prima dei big matches o una vetrina per belle sgallettate senza talento. Dobbiamo dare a Charlotte il merito di essere stata il filo conduttore di questa rinascita e rivalutazione delle donne in WWE. Ma ancora: sarà davvero così? Poi boh... Personalmente io darei il mondo a Sasha!

TAG TEAM OF THE DECADE: The Young Bucks

E chi se no? Sono il tag team che più di ogni altro ha mantenuto la promessa del decennio precedente: ESSERE il futuro della categoria! Ricordo ancora come noi indyfans a fine 2009 ci gasavamo nominando i loro match contro i Guns, e quell’incredibile finale del DDT4 contro Strong e Danielson, il meglio di quell’annata. E in effetti, a mio avviso, quelli rimangono dei capolavori impareggiabili. Il meglio che la PWG abbia mai prodotto. Sono gli incontri che hanno messo i fratelli Jackson “on the map”. Da lì il passo prepotente in TNA, alla quale è arrivata la pulce all’orecchio. Vabbè, quello è un trafiletto dimenticabile, ma è stato comunque un avvio decisivo alle loro carriere, una crescita esponenziale che da Reseda, in California, li ha portati a viaggiare in tutto il mondo, collezionando titoli su titoli e incrementando la loro popolarità, fino al grandissimo apice in ROH, dove per lungo tempo sono stati un’attrazione principale, e la New Japan Pro Wrestlling. Tutti, credo, pensiamo che il match contro i Lovers costituisca la firma su questo decennio interamente dedicato a loro. Io, però, segnalerei anche il loro match contro gli Hardies a Supercard of Honor. Un match piacevole e che, di fatto, rappresenta un incredibile passing the torch. Eppure, come ho già detto nei vari topic AEW, ammetto che negli ultimi anni mi hanno dato decisamente a noi, e penso che si siano molto adagiati sugli allori non apportando alcuna novità, solo uno stile riciclato e match copia-incolla.

MATCH OF THE DECADE: Kazuchika Okada vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi - Wrestle Kingdom 2016

Ex aequo: Okada vs. Omega di Wrestle Kingdom 2017 - ma ci starebbe bene anche quello di Dominion.
C’ho pensato molto, e penso di voler dare la palma a questi due match. Anche qui, una parte di me combatte sulla decisione giusta da prendere, e ancora mi chiedo: e se fosse il contrario? Ma non dimenticherò mai quell' Okada vs. Tanahashi; a mio avviso, la summa poetica di tutta la loro rivalità. Un Okada che finalmente si prende la sua meritata rivincita, supera lo scoglio più grande della sua carriera, riesce in quello che ancora gli mancava, l’ultimo importante tassello alla grandezza, e poi finalmente può dirsi il numero uno della compagnia: sconfiggere Tanahashi al Dome! E per quanto il risultato fosse alquanto scontato, incredibile ma vero, magie di una federazione che sa fare Wrestling, la tensione è stata palpabile e tagliata con l’accetta fino all’ultimo secondo, trasalendo ad ogni rimonta del Tana e kickout alla Rainmaker. Capirete, dunque, che il momento simbolico è altissimo e non può essere lasciato da parte nella valutazione di Best di quest'ultimo decennio.

FEUD OF THE DECADE: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kazuchika Okada.
Suppongo di aver già detto tutto a riguardo. Aggiungo che il momento che ho preferito di più tra i due, è stato il finale di Wrestle Kingdom 2015, motivo per il quale la mia scelta ricaduta sul match dell’anno successivo, come best del decennio, assume maggior risalto. Vedere Okada che, sorretto da Gedo, fuoriesce dal Dome in lacrime, sopraffatto, sconsolato, reo di non essersi tolto quella soddisfazione mancante, è STORYTELLING PURO!, è WRESTLING con la W maiuscola, è saper scrivere una cazzo di storia! Appunto: la storia di un decennio... La storia del Wrestling!

PROMOTION OF THE DECADE: NJPW (ex aequo/PROGRESS e la scena europea in generale)
Senza alcun dubbio la New Japan Pro Wrestlig è incoronata la regina di questo decennio, per qualità delle storie, sviluppo dei personaggi, costanza e qualità dei suoi innumerevoli incontri ragguardevoli. In dieci anni la sua crescita è stata pazzesca, sconfinando dal Giappone per andare a mettere radici dappertutto, in primis Europa e Stati Uniti, dove ci si aspetta che i suoi artigli vadano molto più in profondità, “impensierendo” certi capoccia dalle parti del Connecticut. Ma lasciamo, ad ogni modo, che la scena europea condivida la palma della vittoria, e in tal senso mi sento di dare, simbolicamente, il merito alla PROGRESS, che più di ogni altra si è profilata all’orizzonte come la promotrice di una grande rivoluzione. Ora, io non la seguo da diverso tempo, e ammetto che, anche al tempo della sua nascita, non la seguissi sempre; però i momenti cardine e i suoi protagonisti ho imparato a conoscerli e mi sono fatto un'idea del movimento. In particolar modo questi ultimi, ragazzi come Ospreay e Sabre che hanno spopolato in Giappone, come Scrull in ROH, e quei ragazzi risucchiati dal tritacarne del WWE Network. Mi raccomando, sempre viva NXT, eh!
