Pure gold.

Becky Lynch On Why She’s Over W/ The Fans, Making History, Main Eventing WrestleMania, More
Becky Lynch On Why She’s Over W/ The Fans, Making History, Main Eventing WrestleMania, More
Becky Lynch was today’s guest on E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness. The SmackDown Women’s Champion opened up on a myriad of professional wrestling related topics. The conversation was Lynch’s first with WWE Hall of Famer Edge since the two verbally sparred on SmackDown 1000.

On Making History & Being ‘The Man’:

To be honest, it feels incredible and this is what I set off to do. Like you said, everybody sets off to do it, but it’s rare that you get to do it on this stage that I’ve been able to and at this level and it’s been one thing after the other. It was changing the name of the Divas Title to the Women’s Title and that being a first ever and then going on and being the first ever SmackDown Women’s Champion, the first woman drafted to SmackDown, and the first woman to main event SmackDown Live and to do it in a steel cage and then we have the Money in the Bank match. It’s just been constantly rolling and so if anybody questions why I call myself the man, it’s because I’ve been making history since the time that I’ve stepped into this place. I am the man.

On Fan Support & This Year’s Money in the Bank:

So 2017 wasn’t my best year by any stretch of the imagination, but I never felt like I lost the fans at all. I felt like they were there the entire time and even though I wasn’t doing a lot on TV or I wasn’t on my most winningest run in WWE, I felt like they were always there and they never turned their backs on me really. They never booed me or chanted that I sucked. They always believed in me and even if they got a little bit quieter (because I wasn’t doing anything, I wasn’t doing anything for them to rally behind) I always felt that no matter what, they liked me and I liked them and then when it came to Money in the Bank, they just showed their support in a way that was undeniable that I think everybody had to turn around and go, ‘Wait a minute. She’s got something here. Something’s happening. There’s a connection that we can’t ignore anymore.’

On Why She’s Getting Over:

I think that’s why it’s hitting home with people because it’s real. It’s not manufactured. All the frustrations, all those feelings of being overlooked, of working your ass off day in and day out, week in and week out and seeing other people get opportunities above you time and time again and eventually just say, ‘Enough is enough. I have worked as hard as I can possibly work and I deserve it as much as anybody and if nobody is gonna give it to me, then I’m gonna take it.’ I think anybody can relate to that frustration.

On Main Eventing WrestleMania 35 w/ Ronda Rousey:

Absolutely [it can happen this year] and I will say it for this reason and it’s not about gender. It’s about who are the most popular and interesting Superstars that we have on the roster and right now, I can’t think of two people that have higher ratings and interest in them than myself and Ronda [Rousey]. For that reason and that reason alone, we should be the main event and if anybody else can step up and drum up as much interest in the meantime, than my goodness please have at it, but that’s not gonna happen because that’s my spot and I’m not letting anybody else take it.

I’ve drummed up more interest than anybody else in recent memory and it’s across the board; on TV, on social media, on backstage interviews, on whatever interviews, on the Edge & Christian podcast, I’ve drummed up more interest left, right, and center. I think there’s only one person that can step up to that plate. There’s only one person that’s ‘the man’ and ‘the man’ should be main eventing WrestleMania.

It has to be [the main event], but here’s the thing, you can be the chosen one all you’d like, but we are out there every night in front of thousands of people, millions of people on TV, and I think they should be the people that choose who’s the main event of WrestleMania and that’s what they’ve done.

On Her WrestleMania 35 Predictions:

My prediction is that I back up what I say like I have done the past few months and that I’m gonna walk out of there as the Women’s Champion, so if we look at the trajectory, I’ll probably be the double champ: champ champ. I’m gonna walk out there as the SmackDown Women’s Champion and the RAW Women’s Champion. I’m gonna carry the whole company on my back and just walk right out of there like a donkey [laughter].

Becky Lynch will be the focus of the next edition of WWE Chronicle.

WWE has announced that a Chronicle episode on Lynch will premiere tomorrow (Saturday, December 15), which comes in advance of Lynch defending her SmackDown Women's Championship against Charlotte Flair and Asuka in a triple threat tables, ladders, and chairs match this Sunday.

The episode will be available to watch on the WWE Network on demand and WWE's YouTube account at noon Eastern time tomorrow.

Here's WWE's description for the episode: "SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch was gearing up for her highly anticipated match at Survivor Series against Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, but after taking a punch from Nia Jax, the champion found herself in 'doctor jail,' and the dream match was called off. Follow Becky as she looks back on her evolution into becoming 'The Man,' and join The Irish Lass Kicker on her journey back to the ring at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs in a new edition of WWE Chronicle."

Dave Meltzer had reported that WWE was filming a documentary on Lynch this week.

WWE Chronicle mixes real life with storyline for its episodes. Past editions of Chronicle focused on Shinsuke Nakamura ahead of WrestleMania 34, Samoa Joe ahead of SummerSlam 2018, and Dean Ambrose during his return to the ring and turning against Seth Rollins. Those episodes ranged from 37 minutes to an hour long.

Ecco il WWE Chronicle su Becky

(lo vedo con calma domani)

EDIT

Becky Lynch Talks WWE Attempt At Turning Her Heel, If Her Accent Held Her Back, More

Becky Lynch appeared on State of Combat to discuss some of WWE's strange booking, becoming "The Man," why she hugged Charlotte before Survivor Series, and social media. Here are some of the highlights:

Being told that she should cut a promo against the fans that lifted her to the top as WWE attempted to turn her heel:

"There was a lot going through my head on that day because I come off such a high from the reaction of the night before, from finally saying that I'm doing with this, that I deserve more. And that's a very freeing feeling because you almost were shackled by friendship for so long. So you say, 'OK, I'm taking off these chains because the only person bounding me down right now is you—and me by allowing it. And I'm taking it off.' And then I think everybody thought that I was going to be the bad guy because of that.

"But I don't think that I was because I think anybody can relate to that person that always wants you to do good but they don't want you to do better than them ever. And they don't really want you to succeed—maybe to a level to where you're content but never where you're truly happy, never to where you're truly soaring. And I think everybody has that person who everything comes easy to them, everything is handed to them and there's no struggle. Unfortunately, that's not most people. That's not most people.

"And I went out there and I was going through a lot of stuff, I was questioning a lot of things, and the one thing I did question was—and I could feel it from the fans, too. Because when I said it, I said, 'Well, when Charlotte [Flair] stole the win from me, you got up and you cheered the new champion. You weren't that upset, were you?' And I think people agreed with me. They did stand up and cheer a new champion because she weaseled her way in like a Flair does into a match where she didn't belong and she did what she does. She's an opportunist and she stole that opportunity from me."

Her "enough is enough" moment at SummerSlam:

"I think it's been progressive. I don't know that there's a defining moment. The physical moment was the moment the world saw at SummerSlam, but I think it's been building for such a long time, it really has. If you go back and you look at any of my interviews backstage or whatever, I've been saying the same thing for a long time. I keep getting overlooked. I keep getting taken advantage of and I need to change. I kept saying, 'I need to change; I need to do something different.' But I think I didn't—for lack of a better term—I didn't have the balls to do it really. I was still stuck in that mindset of, 'No, let me get along with everybody. Let me do the right thing. Let me not ruffle too many feathers. Let me ruffle a few, but not every one – certainly not my best friend.'

"And then when I realized that was what was holding me down, keeping me back, casting a shadow on me, I was like, 'Ha-ha, no way. You asked me for advice. You rely on me. And you're the one [getting a push]? Well that doesn't sound right. Surely I should be the one since I have the knowledge, I have the ability, I have paid my dues in so many different ways.' She works hard, but nobody works harder than I do or for as long."

Becoming "The Man" and exorcising some demons:

"'The Man' is a state of mind. What I'm going out there and doing is I'm just telling the truth. I think that's what people are reacting to, that's what people are responding to. It's just the truth that I'm saying; there's no words of a lie coming out of my mouth whenever I say anything. I'm just stating fact. And unfortunately, they're not said often enough, and they're not said loud enough to a large enough arena of people. Now I'm doing it on every single platform that I have. Whether it's on Twitter, whether it's on Instagram, whether it's on a WWE show on RAW or SmackDown, at a pay-per-view, in a backstage interview, whenever I get the chance to come on your show and talk like this, I will stand out there and I will state the facts."

Whether it's true that some backstage said her accent was holding her back:

"No. Nobody ever said that … to my face. Ha-ha. Nobody ever said that to my face, but I wouldn't be surprised if some snake was saying it behind my back. I'll prove them wrong. I love proving people wrong. It's one thing to prove people right, and I love doing that, but it's a whole other [thing] to go out there and prove people wrong."

Why she hugged Charlotte before Survivor Series:

"... and then I have to watch Charlotte Flair step into my role. And clearly you hug people you don't like when you're concussed because I don't know what I was doing; wouldn't have ever hugged her in a million years in a sober state. I have to watch her try to be bootleg Becky at Survivor Series acting like she's me, thinking she's tough, thinking she's edgy. That woman couldn't have any edge if she turned into a Rubik's cube."

Talking trash on social media:

"That's where the fun is. That's where the fun is. You know, the thing is, if you're going to say anything about me, just prepare that I'm going to come back at you. And if you're not prepared for that, well then I would advise getting my name out of your mouth."

THE BOSS Sasha Banks exclusive: facing Ronda Rousey and explaining her tag team name with Bayley
Sasha Banks will face Ronda Rousey at the Royal Rumble on January 27th in her first one-on-one title match in nearly 18 months

Sasha Banks is one of the most decorated superstars in WWE today, whatever the gender.
The Boss is a four-time Raw champion, the first woman alongside Charlotte Flair to headline a WWE pay-per-view or compete in a Hell in a Cell match.

However, she hasn’t had a one-on-one title match since dropping the title to Alexa Bliss in late August 2017.

At the Royal Rumble on January 27th, Banks will finally get the shot at Ronda Rousey she has been craving.

TalkSPORT spoke to Banks on Monday evening and the cousin of Snoop Dogg had plenty to say about her year in the title wilderness.

“For me, frustration is what you need to strive you to get better. You have to fail to succeed and you can’t just stay at the top because there’s nowhere else to go. If you’re just at the top, you’re gonna go stale, you’re gonna stagnate, you’re never going to learn and grow and for me, the last year has been a rollercoaster of a career, but I felt the most accomplished when Vince McMahon said the Women’s Tag Team titles were coming. I wasn’t getting used in the title picture, so I found a different focus and a different goal.

“I worked so hard on my craft, I worked hard to be the best singles wrestler and now I’m working hard to be the best tag team wrestler that I can. For me, yes I was frustrated, but I got everything I wanted at the same time. It’s just cool at the start of 2019 going into the title picture and hearing the tag titles are coming. So for me, my goal is to be a double champion.”

The Women’s Tag Team titles represents a great chance for Banks to claim another title and many fancy her and Bayley – The Boss and Hug Connection – to be the inaugural champions.

We asked Banks why they chose to pay homage to The Rock and Mick Foley instead of a litany of other tags teams, and she said it was just “cool”.

“One of our favourites was The Hardy Boyz… but we didn’t want to be The Hardy Girlz! We both love The Rock & Mick Foley so I just think it’s a name that clicks for us and suits our characters,” Banks said. “I think it’s a cool name. It’s keeping the legacy alive in wrestling and letting everyone know we were such superfans and this is the real deal Tag Team Championships right now and we’re a real deal tag team, so we’re looking forward to the future.”

Banks and Bayley were also lucky enough to team with the legendary duos of Trish Stratus and Lita the night after the first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view, Evolution. We asked Banks what that was like and she revealed it was Stratus and Lita’s idea.

“I was so excited. I felt like a kid all over again. Trish and Lita didn’t have to stay until the next day, they stayed just because they wanted to work and team with me and Bayley and I cannot even fathom how amazing that is. It’s so insane growing up and watching these people on TV but to have the opportunity to talk with them and work with them and for them to share there stories and for us to share our stories with them – it’s so beautiful,” Banks beamed.

“It’s almost felt like passing the torch down in a kind of way? But I had the absolute biggest smile when I heard Trish and Lita’s music and when I found out I was working with them and it was just a dream come true. It’s going to be one of my top memories of last year. It was such an honour.”

Banks will face off with Rousey for the RAW Women’s Championship at the Royal Rumble and will look to hijack Rousey’s road to the WrestleMania 35 main event.
