It looks like Jonathan Gresham could be done with Ring of Honor and AEW only a few months after signing with the two companies.
Fightful Select has learned that former ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham asked for his release Saturday ahead of the ROH Death Before Dishonor show that saw him lose the championship. We're told that there was a lack of communication between the company and Gresham leading up to the weekend, and Gresham was said to have felt disrespected by this. Among other things, we learned that the lack of time for the world title match was a tipping point as well.
We're told that Gresham finally procured a meeting with Tony Khan before the show, he was said to have communicated the frustration that led to him "cussing out" Khan. Several talent confirmed this to Fightful following the ROH Death Before Dishonor show.
Gresham had interest from Japan, IMPACT and others before re-signing with ROH/AEW. Gresham told Fightful late last year that he was going to stick things out and see where the ROH brand landed, as he felt a sense of loyalty and pride in continuing it.
Fightful has reached out to Khan and Gresham for responses, and we're told from Gresham's side of things that as of this moment, Gresham is "done with wrestling for the foreseeable future after this month." We were also told that Gresham came out without his regular entrance gear because he wanted to be himself and see everything clearly for what would possibly be his last match. We've not heard from Tony Khan or ROH's side of things officially.
It has not been confirmed that Gresham was granted his request for release.
In the past, several former AEW talent have spoken about the lack of communication being a point of frustration for them.

Devono risolvere sto problema della comunicazione, siamo a 3 persone del roster che lo fanno notare.
Chi a capo delle relazioni con i talenti? Daniels o Billy Gunn non ricordo?

Daniels.
Sono più di tre comunque. A memoria ci sono: Marko Stunt, Swole, Janela, Shida, Brian Cage e ora Gresham. E ancora non si sa nulla di MJF.

Ha sempre dato l'impressione di tenerci al marchio, dispiace che si sia arrivato a questo. Poi alla luce del roster sterminato, e sul fatto che le offerte non gli mancano, meglio che trovi una realtà dove ha spazio di fare.

C'è un chiaro problema di comunicazione con gli atleti da risolvere immediatamente.
Non te lo puoi permettere a nessun livello di wrestling (neanche nella peggior palestra scalcinata dei sobborghi di Detroit), figurati se vuoi "giocare" a questi livelli.
Poi che quel titolo dovesse andare alla vita di Claudio era giusto così, però non puoi dare tutto per scontato con l'atleta a cui devi parlare e spiegare che cosa accadrà.

Non vorrei che Khan abbia paura di immettere personale esterno per non creare più spesso situazioni complicate.

Gresham non è il primo a dire che Khan si "raffredda" qando un wrestler non gli interessa più (hype per la difesa d'ufficio). Lo aveva detto anche Marko Stunt e prima ancora Cage e pure Chavo Guerrero. Gresham poi mi sa che è uno che si prende molto sul serio e prende molto sul serio quello che fa quindi essere lasciato al suo destino senza comunicazioni gli deve aver fatto girare non poco le balle.
Match con Claudio che è mancato di anima, un compitino fatto comunque bene. Felice per Claudio che si meritava da anni una soddisfazione del genere e non fosse andato in una realtà dove il suo punto di forza è secondario l'avrebbe raggiunta molto prima. Spiace sia arrivata in questo modo, non nella vera ROH e in un match che ho percepito senza anima.
Spiace anche se Gresham molla. Non è il tipo di wrestler che mi fa impazzire, anzi, ma era particolare e si vedeva che ci teneva. A dicembre aveva detto che aveva raggiunto tutti i suoi obiettivi e quindi guardava solo al soldo e a un contratto fisso.

Gresham mollato prima che potesse ammazzarsi con Danielson è una cosa che fa sanguinare l'anima.
Tony Khan sempre più poserone che va dietro solo a chi conosce bene.

Show ottimo come previsto, ma il fatto che il "seguito" di questa roba si veda un po' spalmato su Dynamite e Rampage o ad un prossimo evento a data da destinarsi non mi convince. Ho letto che Tony Khan voglia fare uno show settimanale, ma che lo farà solo quando la distribuzione avrà senso. Ma per me ridurre i gli AEW Dark ad uno e magari tenere lo slot del lunedì di Elevation per la Ring Of Honor sarebbe già sensato.
Così fai uno show potente per la TV e uno show potente per il Web, da non sottovalutare (che magari un domani passi su un servizio tipo WWE Network).
Ci sarebbe anche il nome. Dopo Monday Night Raw e Monday Nitro, Monday Night ROH

Main event straordinario. Forse un'anticchia inferiore a Supercard per via della ricerca dell'epicità a tutti i costi (tre bladejob su quattro sono troppi), ma che spettacolo. Gli FTR non sbagliano un match di livello da un'infinità di tempo, i Briscoes sono i loro avversari perfetti.
Piaciuto molto anche Rush vs Dragon Lee: sono due che, per motivi diversi, mi divertono sempre.
Bello anche Yuta vs Garcia, ma con 5 minuti in più sarebbe stato anche meglio.
Joe vs Lethal non male, ma il samoano è lontano dai suoi anni migliori e si vede (soprattutto nel ritmo del match).
Peccato che Claudio abbia vinto il titolo contro un Gresham palesemente scazzato (poi si è capito perché). Meritatissimo comunque, per il wrestler pazzesco che è e per la storia che si porta dietro.

Giusto il titolo mondiale a Claudio Castagnoli e perfetto che sia avvenuto in ROH, quasi come in chiusura di un cerchio. Sarà limitato in carisma e al microfono, ma ci sono stati campioni mondiali in altre federazioni ben meno meritevoli di lui, quindi sono contento per lui.
Gli FTR continuano a dominare, sono stra over e nel picco più alto della loro carriera, sarebbe cosa buona e giusta dargli anche i titoli della AEW.

Finito di recuperare ora, parzialmente deluso. Dato l'evidente mancanza di direzione per il marchio, quantomeno doveva essere una card di super matchoni e così non è stato. Tutta roba buona ma niente per cui strapparsi i capelli.
Claudio/Gresham fa bruciare il culo terribilmente, una terribile fine per il regno di Gresham che decisamente meritava di meglio per aver tenuto la fiamma accesa in questi mesi e un brutto inizio per Castagnoli.
Yuta/Garcia probabile match della serata, ma sempre buono e poco più. Regal al commento mezzo gli ruba la scena.
Martinez/Deeb pagano venire dopo Yuta e Garcia e il pubblico non se l'è cagate mai, nonostante il duro lavoro.
Lethal/Joe fa il possibile e ha sicuramente il maggiore trasporto del pubblico, ma è un match che in ROH non c'entra una sega e Joe è sempre più immobile ogni giorno che passa.
FTR/Briscoes cercano l'epica e trovano la ridondanza. Ottimo match per carità, ma non speciale come il primo, il pubblico allargato ha forse tolto qualcosa perché erano tutti lì per gli FTR e i Briscoes mezzo sembravano "sminuiti".
Ps: quanto mi da al cazzo che ci sono tipo 5 stili grafici di loghi diversi che girano, soprattutto per le cinture, è proprio l'indicazione massima di sciatteria di gestione. La ROH ad oggi si limita ad esistere, senza un vero perché.
