It has tonight been claimed that the personal issues UFC welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre made reference to following his UFC 167 win over Johny Hendricks are down to his dying father and an unwanted pregnancy, with the latter coming out of left field to say the least.
GeorgesStPierre-2-1This from TMZ.com:
St. Pierre announced immediately after the fight that he was stepping away from the sport for an extended period of time due to personal issues, something that leaves both Hendricks and the rest of the welterweight division in a state of limbo. Will we ever see the French-Canadian compete inside the octagon again and will “Bigg Rigg” be waiting for him when he does? Tell us what you think…
“His father is dying and he got a woman pregnant and doesn’t want her to have the baby. GSP recently learned he knocked up a woman — and he doesn’t want to have a baby with her but she insists on keeping it.”
“After his fight on Saturday, GSP said his situation is so bad he can’t sleep — “I’m going crazy. I have issues, man. I need to relax. I need to get out for a while. I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
UPDATE: Early Monday TMZ reported that, among other things, Georges St-Pierre’s father’s ill health was one of the reasons that the champion was looking to step away from the sport. Now, La Presse is reporting that those rumors are entirely without merit.
“My father is doing very well!” said Myriam St-Pierre, younger sister of Georges, “We have received many phone calls, and this rumor must stop. It is causing us pain.”
“My father watches my children. He would not watch them if he was about to die,” said Myriam St-Peirre, 29. She gave assurances that the sexagenarian was is great shape.
I don’t know where this rumor comes from, but it’s false. she said.
