The ending to Smackdown for this Friday was dictated by Randy Orton's back issues. The injury was something Orton had been dealing with in recent weeks, so his match with Wade Barrett was company's way of writing the injury into the storylines.
While we do not have any update on the severity of the injury at this time, I want to note that an inaccurate report is floating around citing PWInsider.com as reporting Orton would miss Wrestlemania due to a slipped disc. Nothing of the sort was written or stated on either the free or Elite versions of PWInsider.com. Whoever published that report is stating an absolute lie, so remember that when you decide what outlets are legitimate and worth your time.

Praticamente Orton ha subito sì un infortunio alla schiena (di cui non si conosce la gravità), ma già da qualche tempo si sapeva, ergo la fine del main event dell'ultimo smackdown, il modo in cui si è concluso (con un Randy dolorante) sembrerebbe essere un workThe Phenom 80 ha scritto:

Ho rivisto il match 3 vs 3 (christian, henry, cena vs miz, del rio, punk) e all'entrata di Christian sono rimasto così :O ...si prendeva un sacco di pop da face, io lo riturnerei

It's possible that Randy Orton's back injury didn't actually happen at last night's SmackDown tapings in the Falls Count Anywhere Match against Wade Barrett. The match ended when Barrett threw Orton down a flight of stairs.
The scripted spot with Orton going down the stairs makes it appear that Orton had a pre-existing injury. Also, since the December 19th RAW, Orton has been put in positions where he hasn't had to do a lot of physical work on TV.
As noted before, Sheamus will be taking Orton's place in SmackDown live events this week against Barrett. There's talk that one of the RAW brand live event matches will be moved over to the SmackDown tour to help beef up the line-ups
