Eh si, alla fine il format li penalizza parecchio....anche perchè di sicuro almeno un quarto d'ora venti minuti saranno video di hype e introduzione della categoria HW.
Comunque son curioso di vedere come imposteranno l'evento vero a proprio, quando era uscita la news che sarebbe stata solo un ora di broadcast avevano parlato comunque di una card "normale", ma sinceramente non so se solo coi biglietti riusciranno a mettere in piedi uno show da ppv per intenderci, o se sarà solo il main event e poi una sfilza di incontri di medio livello.

In più ora c'è il 139 che ha una card a dir poco leggerina per un PPV, e per di più in california....

Molto dipenderà anche da cosa decideranno di fare per la card preliminare: per esempio se (come credo) manderanno l'undercard su Facebook e poi la midcard magari su FX...

Vero.....certo è che i fan che si aspettavano un match titolato HW in California ora se lo prendono nel sedere mica male, perchè se Bowles v Faber poteva essere un buon co main event (e secondo me non lo è, ma vabbè è un altro discorso) come main event è inadatto a dir poco, anche contando il fattore di hometown favorite di Urijah....

Sinceramente non so come funziona, ma se addirittura ci fossero già stati in vendita i biglietti non sarebbe una bella situazione...

Hector Lombard on a potential fight with Anderson Silva: “I would go in there to take his head off”

Bellator middleweight champion, Hector Lombard has been giving his thoughts on a potential fight with his opposite number in the UFC, Anderson Silva, explaining far from be cautious against “The Spider” he’d look to be ultra- aggressive and try to take his head off inside the octagon.

Speaking after last nights win over Jesse Taylor, Lombard said:

“I wouldn’t be frightened of him. I would go in there to take his head off.”

Lombard’s most recent win mean’s he’s gone 23-0-1 in his last twenty four fights, making him one of the most consistent fighters in the world of mixed martial arts today. Is a move to the UFC ranks beckoning in 2012 for the hard hitting Bellator middleweight champion?

Yoshihiro Akiyama finally makes the decision to drop to welterweight following three straight defeats inside the octagon

After three consecutive defeats inside the octagon Japanese UFC star, Yoshihiro Akiyama has finally decided to make the move down to the welterweight division in a hope it will revive his flagging career.

The talented judoka has also revealed he intends on seeking the advise of current 170 pound king pin, Georges St. Pierre after deciding to close his highly regarded Cloud Dojo following financial problems. This opens up opportunities to move to Northern American where he intends to train.

After picking up a contentious split decision win over Alan Belcher on his octagon debut at UFC 100 in July 2009, Akiyama has fallen short when taking on Chris Leben, Michael Bisping and Vitor Belfort. We’ll see how he fares in the 170 pound ranks, a move UFC President, Dana White has recently said he would be encouraging.

RUA VS ORTIZ???

Eduardo Alonso, the manager of former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, has targeted a New Year’s Eve showdown with Tito Ortiz for the Brazilian’s next fight inside the octagon, explaining it would be an honour to face a true icon of the sport before he retires.

Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Alonso said:

“I’ve been hearing some rumors, but until now there’s nothing concrete about UFC. If it depends only on my plannings, he’d fight on December 31st, it’d be great. I’d really like him to fight Tito Ortiz since he’s an icon of the sport and will soon retire.”

“He didn’t have the chance to fight (Randy) Couture, something Lyoto had the luck and credits to do, but I’d like to see this fight. It came from Tito himself, who challenged him, but we’re realistic. I know it’s not much likely, so it’s only left for us to wait. Everybody knows Shogun doesn’t pick his opponents, so we’re opened to discussion. To me, the date (December 31st) is more important than the opponent”.

“Shogun” is coming off an impressive first round knockout win over Forrest Griffin just last month in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, avenging his 2007 defeat to the Xtreme Couture trained fighter. Could a win over another former champion in the form of “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” gain him another shot at the title?

Chael Sonnen comments on Anderson Silva’s latest win, says people are in awe of the Brazilian champion

UFC middleweight contender, Chael Sonnen has been giving his thoughts on the latest win of current champion, Anderson Silva this past weekend at UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, explaining in his opinion people are just in awe of what’s about to come next from “The Spider”.

Speaking during this weeks edition of MMA Live, Sonnen said:

“The bottom line is that Anderson Silva did an awesome job. He continues with his dominance, he’s such a good striker and what he’s really good at is keeping guys at range and having guys fight his fight.”

“People just aren’t getting over the mental side of it…it becomes very apparent when you stand around and watch Anderson in front of you. If you look at Vitor Belfort’s mouth, it was almost open and he was in awe right before the finishing strike. If you look at Yushin’s face, he’s almost in awe and wondering what’s coming next before the finishing strikes come.”

Sonnen could get a second shot at proving he’s not susceptible to the mental aspect of “The Spider’s” game if he can defeat Brian Stann at UFC 136 on October 6th in Houston, Texas. Does the trash talking maverick have a point about the current champion or is Silva just that damn good?

M-1 Global reveal “all the necessary agreements” have been reached for Fedor to return late on in the fall

M-1 Global have today revealed everything is in place for former PRIDE heavyweight champion, Fedor Emelianenko to return to action in his homeland of Russia before the year is out, including who “The Last Emperor” will be facing.

This from Vadim Finklestein on M-1 Global’s website:

“Fedor is going to fight in late fall in Russia, we have already reached all the necessary agreements on his fight.”

The big question to answer is who will the formerly ranked number one fighter on the planet face now his career is spiralling out of control following a trio of losses to Fabricio Werdum, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva and Dan Henderson.

Questo sabato ci saranno le semifinali del torneo heavy Strikeforce. Chissà che i due vincitori non abbiano modo di rimpiazzare Cain e JDS nel main event UFC nel quartier generale Stikeforce (oddio i tempi sarebbero un po' stretti).

Sempre a proposito del torneo, pare che questa settimana potrebbe essere quella buona per la firma di Alistair con l'UFC. I rumors ingolosiscono con voci di un suo primo match con Mir o Lesnar...
