UFC 139 fighter salaries include an event high for Cung Le at $350,000

The salaries for those fighters competing on the UFC 139 card this past weekend in San Jose, California has been released in the past few hours with crowd favourite and former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Cung Le walking away with the most at $350,000.

Other high earners include the last man to hold the Strikeforce light heavyweight title, Dan Henderson at $250,000 and former PRIDE champion, Wanderlei Silva at $200,000. Drawing the short straw on this one goes to Nick Pace who earned just $4,000.

The full payouts included:

Dana White has his doubts about Cung Le returning to the UFC in the future

UFC President, Dana White has cast a shadow of doubt over a possible second fight inside the octagon for former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Cung Le following his second round TKO loss at the hands of Wanderlei Silva this past weekend at UFC 139 in San Jose, California.

Speaing at the UFC 139 post-fight press conference, Dana said:

“I don’t know, I don’t know we’ll see. You know he’s up there, his dream was to fight in the UFC. He got to the fight in the UFC and fight Wanderlei Silva. You think about it, Cung Le is one of these guys who comes from traditional martial arts. What this guy has accomplished in transitioning from traditional martial arts into MMA, it’s pretty damn amazing. I have so much respect for that guy as a fighter and as a human being.”

Silva won the fight late on in the second round with the California resident tiring significantly as he poured on the pressure. A big right hand dropped Le to his knees who then attempted to secure a takedown. The referee seemed at this point to stop the fight a little early as Le was still together enough to be looking attempting to compete the takedown.

ho letto released, e ho subito esultato, pensando che lo avessere licenziato.
allora se ha preso 350.000 dollari e continuerà a lottare per l'ufc, l'unica parola che mi viene in mente è sticazzi.
bisogna essere dei cerebrolesi per non accorgersi che cung le è un buffone pompato che combatte ancora a queli livelli perche è un fenomeno da baraccone, quasi come kimbone slice.

Ho capito che wand è sul viale del tramonto, ma il primo round va 10.9 a cung le a mani basse... Il problema di Le è che non ha TDD quindi chiunque lo voglia portare a terra, lo fa (cosa che Wand però non ha fatto...). Per il resto non è stato malvagio, anzi... sicuramente attira più un match "spettacolare" con i calci di Le che uno con gente più completa ma che attacca l'avversario al suolo per 3 round e GG.

Il problema del vietnamita-americano è che è vecchiotto, sembra sia concentrato su altro e soprattutto non ha un gran chin e un gran ko power (finisce l'avversario lentamente), però è fighter spettacolare e molto meno scarso di quanto non lo si voglia far passare ora solo perché le ha prese dal vecchio Wand...

Solo che mi sembra non abbia fatto l'università e quindi non sia entrato nel circuito NCAA, ma fino ai 20 anni ha fatto incetta di titoli come amateur wrestler.
Io l'ho visto lottare poco ma non l'ho mai visto schiena a terra e gli ho visto scansare agilmente tutti i tentativi di takedown che ha subito (ben pochi in realtà).

Beh diciamo che non ha mai incontrato Couture o Sugar... e che Shamrock "promise" che non avrebbe fatto il match solo in piedi solo per non svantaggiare Le (poi ci provò un po'di volte in realtà).

Alla fine non ha così tanti incontri da poterlo davvero giudicare, ma dallo speciale di Strikeforce lo ammise lui stesso che a terra avrebbe molti più problemi mentre in piedi può battere chiunque.

è un fighter costruito che in tutta la carriera non ha mai affrontato nessuno, e NESSUNO ha mai provato a portarlo a terra.
vedere le prendersi una borsa da 350.000 (da perdente) dollari che è circa 6 volte le borse che hanno preso faber e torres, 2 ec grnadi campioni dell'ufc mi fa troppo incazzare.
comunque tanto le se farà (forse) un altro incontro, dove le riprenderà di nuovo e poi sarà mandato a casa, ci posso scommettere 2 fustini in cambio di 1.

Comunque l'UFC deve aver letto la nostra lunga discussione su chi meritasse di più la title shot tra Sonnen e Munoz perchè a fine gennaio a UFC on Fox 2 si affronteranno loro due per decretare il nuovo first contender di categoria dato che Silva sarà out almeno fino a giugno. Un grande incontro che sancirà senza smentita o polemiche l'indiscusso sfidante alla cintura detenuta dal ragno.

UFC on FOX 2: Chael Sonnen vs Mark Munoz set for Jan. 28 in Chicago



Anderson Silva's next fight may be against Chael Sonnen but Chael Sonnen's next fight won't be against Anderson Silva.

That's because the number one contender to the middleweight championship will put that distinction on the line when he battles Mark Munoz at UFC on Fox 2 on Jan. 28 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

MMAmania.com was able to confirm the pending bout with sources close to the contest.

Sonnen recently ran through Brian Stann in what may or may not have been a title eliminator fight back at UFC 136 on Oct. 8 in Houston. If it wasn't, he made it one by boldly calling out Silva and challenging him to a rematch of their epic Aug. 7, 2010 encounter in Oakland.

UFC President Dana White said he would be "stupid" not to make the fight but a pesky shoulder injury is reportedly going to keep "The Spider" on the shelf until June, when the world's largest fight promotion heads back to Brazil.

If Sonnen can get by Munoz and make a good impression on network TV, he'll be joining his arch nemesis in his home country.

Comunque delusissimo da Munoz v Sonnen, però d'altronde con Silva fuori fino a giugno è l'unica cosa che ha un senso. Ovviamente tifo tutto per Sonnen, non per la persona ma per la situazione.
