Fedor Emelianenko to fight again in Russia against an MMA veteran, doesn’t want to end his career a loser

Vadim Finkelstein, the manager of formerly ranked number one fighter on the planet Fedor Emelianenko, has revealed the Russian will take a fight in his home country against a veteran of the sport following his axe from the Strikeforce roster as he doesn’t want to go out a loser.

Speaking via The MMA Kingdom, Finkelstein said:

“Fedor thought of everything that happened and decide to continue fighting. He thinks that it is not good to leave as a loser. After the holidays, Fedor will return to training and we are planning a fight in Russia against someone who is a veteran. After all, Fedor is not young anymore.”

Fedor had begun his Strikeforce career with a second round knockout win against Brett Rogers before getting submitted by Fabricio Werdum, dominated by Antonio “Big Foot” Silva and knocked out by fellow veteran, Dan Henderson.

Dana White talks up an “amazing” elimination round on TUF 14

UFC President, Dana White has been talking up what he describes as an “amazing” elimination round on the fourteenth season of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show, adding a two hour special will showcase the action to kick off this season.

Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Dana said:

“You guys have heard me say when I think a season is going to be a great season. This is a great season, great season. Never in the history of the show have we done a two-hour first episode. That’s how good these fights are. You guys know me and the way that think and how I am. You think I would ever put on a two-hour fights to get into the house if the fights weren’t amazing? This season is awesome.”

“What happens is, when you do a first season like this, and you look at the 35s and 45s, they’ve never been in the UFC, and there’s never been an ‘Ultimate Fighter’ done on them. So we’ve got the best of the best for this first season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter.’ I’m excited about it.”

TUF 14 debuts on September 21st and will feature UFC middleweight contender, Michael Bisping and former Strikeforce middleweight title contender, Jason “Mayhem” Miller as coaches. The two men will square off in December on the seasons finale show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Evento cosi cosi, che purtroppo ha pagato la presenza davvero esigua di match di cartello e in parte il fatto che siano finiti in fretta.....immagino come sia stato contento chi c'ha speso la cinquantella su sto PPV di vedere il main event finito dopo tipo un ora e mezza e poi un ora di preliminari, e pure di scarso livello.

Evans v Ortiz come pronosticato, anche se di sicuro Tito ha messo Rashad più in difficoltà di quanto si potesse pensare, Vitor easy win su Sexyiama che o scende di peso o non concluderà niente, buona vittoria di Ebersole, ennesima prestazione maiuscola di McDonald che ormai sembra il nuovo Bones Jones, ma sopratutto ennesimo PPV che per un motivo o per l'altro è tutto fuorchè emozionante...

Matt Hamill retires from mixed martial arts competition

UFC light heavyweight veteran, Matt Hamill has today hung up his gloves for good following his UFC 133 defeat at the hands of Alexander Gustafsson, explaining his hunger for the sport is no longer what it was and he needs to give his body and mind a rest.

Posting via his official website, Hamill said:

“Today is a sad day for me. After six years and 13 fights in the UFC I’m ready to hang up my gloves and retire from this amazing sport … I was ready to make this decision after UFC 130 but my friends, family coaches and most importantly my daughter encouraged me to give it one last chance. My career has been plagued by injuries starting with The Ultimate Fighter and disrupted my training ever since. There hasn’t been even one training camp where I’ve been able to train without training around an injury. I have not been kind to my body and it has nothing left after 28 years of non stop competition. It’s time to finally give it a rest. I can’t continue to fight without having the hunger and desire to do so. I can’t let my performances reflect on my coaches who are the best in the world and the reason I’ve made it this far. I have fallen in love with the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and I will continue to coach at our gym Mohawk Valley MMA along side my teammates and help the next generation of fighters make it to the UFC. I also look forward to continuing my business ventures outside the UFC including “Hamill” the movie based on my life story set to be released this fall …Thank you to all my friends and family for their unconditional support and most of all thank you to my fans! It’s the fans that have made this the truly special experience it has been.”

Earlier this year “The Hammer” headlined a UFC Pay-Per-View, taking on former light heavyweight champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and lost the fight via unanimous decision. Hamill holds notable wins over the likes of Keith Jardine and Tito Ortiz and will no doubt be remembered by fans for years to come.

sono d'accordo con ganja, evento che sulla carta aveva ben poco da dire, che comunque si è lasciato guardare, anzi l'ho preferito a molti eventi recenti.
poi vedere perdere ortiz è sempre cosa buona e giusta

su hamill.. beh che dire.. tanto rispetto per un fighter che nonostante il suo handicapp è arrivato fin li... ma a me sull'ottagono ha sempre detto poco.... e di certo non sentirò la sua mancanza.

ultima nota.. complimenti a evans e ai suoi steroidi.... hanno fatto un ottimo lavoro!

Intendi quali sono da guardare? Secondo me sicuramente il main event è godibile, anche grazie alla quasi sub di Tito, Belfort v Sexiyama veloce e indolore con un bel KO, il match di MacDonald ottimo per vedere cosa vuol dire dominare....

Ma tutto sommato il PPV non è stato malvagio, diciamo che però il main event è finito con ancora quasi 1 ora di broadcast e i due prelim che hanno mostrato son stati davvero poca roba, però diciamo la card "regolare" è scorsa via senza troppi patemi.

Comunque manco a me Hamill è mai piaciuto, ma comunque rispetto per la sua carriera.

Intanto non so se avete visto ma è rinata la fu EliteXC, ora si chiama ProElite e comincerà a fare show, il primo a Honolulu il secondo ad Atlantic City in autunno, e li comincerà un HW GP. Boh, vediamo cosa ne esce, ma secondo me apparte l'UFC ormai non c'è posto più per nessuno.

Bellissimo evento questo Live, pieno di bei match e di risvolti a dir poco interessanti sopratutto nella categoria LW, che a mio avviso in questo momento è la categoria più interessante della storia delle MMA, neanche i LHW del periodo di transizione dal PRDIE o gli HW della promotion giapponese avevano creato una situazione di title contention cosi intrigante come quella che stiamo vivendo.

Jim Miller perde e lo fa in maniera un po stupida a mio avviso, troppo rinunciatario alla posizione per raggiungere la sub, che però da subito sembra davvero difficile contro di gran lunga il miglior Ben Henderson che abbiamo mai visto, raramente sono rimasto cosi impressionato da una performance come dalla sua di ieri. Certo, per quel che mi riguarda Miller si è in minima parte battuto da solo, e penso che per Ben i test davvero tosti saranno altri, ma ieri ha sfruttato i campi dove era superiore in maniera esemplare.

Bella vittoria di Ludwig che dimostra di essere su un altro pianeta come striker rispetto ad Amir, i primi due round sono uno spettacolo per chi ama lo standup, si vede davvero la differenza tra un ottimo muai thay e un muai thay d'elite.

Cerrone mostruoso, ma mi è sembrato abbastanza un mismatch, Olivera deve scendere di peso per forza.

Hardy ridicolo, uno dei fighter più stupidi che abbia mai visto lottare, è una vergogna che abbia ancora un contratto con l'UFC.
Lytle, cosa dire.....il ritiro perfetto, due premi, un Harley da portarsi a casa e una carriera di cui essere orgoglioso. Grazie Chris, i tuoi incontri saranno ricordati per molto tempo, speriamo che i fighter come te continuino ad esistere perchè sono sinonimo di divertimento.

Chiudo dicendo che UFC Rio è probabilmente l'evento per cui ho più hype di sempre, spero sia all'altezza delle aspettative perchè potrebbe essere l'evento definitivo.

Complimenti a Lytle per la carriera e per il modo in cui l'ha conclusa, anche se francamente il suo non è stato il match of the night per nulla, Henderson vs Miller è stato molto più vario con un primo round che mi è sembrato uno dei più belli di sempre. Anche Ludwig vs Sadollah è stato meglio combattuto del main event a mio avviso. Pare che Hardy non verrà tagliato, per carità buon per lui ma francamente non mi sembra giustissimo.

Ben Henderson strepitoso nella sua vittoria contro un Miller che doveva già da tempo essere uno sfidante al titolo. Dopo Pettis deraglia anche il treno di Jim, direi che da questi 4 fighter dovrebbero nascere 2 incontri molto interassanti, con Henderson vs Guida a decretare una title shot (anche se Guillard è in attesa del suo momento).

Stendo un velo pietoso sui passati eventi, la sconfitta di Fedor mi fa ancora male adesso.

Troppi link, Ganja. Non so come muovermi. Intendevo quali sono i Vs. Dream Match tra quelli fattibili, ovvero tra i fighter in attività, che abbiano possibilità concrete di scontrarsi.
