Guarda nessuno è veramente critico nei confronti di Fedor. Il russo per me rimane il migliore di sempre insieme ad Anderson Silva e nessuno sano di mente potrà mai negare quanto di eccezionale ha fatto. Rimanere per 10 anni imbattuto è un impresa che dubito si riuscirà a bissare in futuro. Dana può dire ciò che vuole ma rimane il fatto che Fedor è rimasto al top nella miglior HW Division di sempre(con mostri del calibro di CroCop, Nogueira, Coleman etc...) , gente che Emelianenko ha sconfitto al top delle loro carriere. Ma proprio per questo risulta strano che Fedor possa subire così passivamente contro un fighter di una o due categorie di peso inferiori, per quanto Hendo possa essere bravo. Come ho scritto prima Fedor sta pagando l'assenza di stimoli competitivi che lo hanno fatto rilassare mentalmente. Mi sembra abbastanza sconsolato e abituato all'idea di perdere. A differenza di un Wand che era disperato dopo la sconfitta con Leben, Fedor l'ho visto sì affranto ma anche rassegnato. Chissà forse non è stata solo un imposizione del M-1 quella di non andare in UFC ma anche una richiesta di un Fedor che sapeva di non essere più disposto a quel regime di allenamenti che una competizione di altissimo livello richiede.

M-1 Global representative explains decision to retire rests solely with Fedor Emelianenko

Director of Operations for M-1 Global, Evgeni Kogan has been giving his thoughts on the next move of formerly ranked number one fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko, explaining any decision to retire will come solely from the Russian fighter.

Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Kogan said:

“He’s usually – internally as well as to the media – pretty quiet on that kind of stuff. Once he makes a decision about things, he lets Vadim (Finkelchtein, his manager and M-1 Global co-owner) know, and than it goes through the rest of the team. But he’s very much the guy that makes the decisions, and on this one, I have to say that I just simply don’t know.”

“I think we as an organization have been growing this year and doing stuff in the U.S. and Russia, so hopefully there’s been a little bit of a split, both in the eyes of the media and the fans, between the M-1 entity which has traditionally been seen as Fedor’s management, and the M-1 entity which is the MMA promotion company. So officially, M-1 doesn’t have a position on the fight on Saturday.”

“Everyone eventually loses, and what happens now is up to him. [Emelianenko] is still one of the best fighters, and I think he could come back and he could beat really good people and be at the top of the sport again. It could happen. Whether or not it does happen, only he and his family know that. Sometime reasonably soon within the next couple of months, the rest of the world will know what his plans are, too. If he decides to continue, then I’ll be supporting him as a fan, first and foremost.”

Fedor has lost his last three fights inside the cage, getting submitted by Fabricio Werdum last June, dominated by a man 60 pounds heavier than him in Antonio “big Foot” Silva in February, before getting knocked out by Dan Henderson this past weekend in Chicago.

Aleksander Emelianenko slams Fedor’s coaches following latest defeat inside the Strikeforce cage

Aleksander Emelianenko, the brother of formerly ranked number one fighter in the world Fedor Emelianenko, has today blasted his brothers coaches following his first round knockout loss to Dan Henderson in Chicago, Illinois, so much so that he gave them two very fitting nicknames.

Speaking via LifeSports.ru, Aleksander said:

“They sat like two amoebas, and did not know what to say. They were asked direct questions and would say, “It is difficult to say… we will see in the fight,” – what kind of a coach says that? Only one who doesn’t understand the sport. I just call them ‘Stopwatch’ and ‘Towel’. That’s as much use as they are, that’s it,”

“[MMA] is constantly improving, but ‘Stopwatch’ and ‘Towel’ have not changed anything in the program – just frozen in time and not been able to develop the base that Fedor already has. Fedor could train himself, he must take on it personally, to rethink many of the training points to learn and develop. Suffer and work!

“We’ll talk with Fedor – whether he wants to change something in his preparation. If he wants to, I will make the effort.”

Fedor has often been criticised for his training techniques, refusing to adapt to the modern ways and instead holds himself up in his homeland of Russia with the same group of coaches and training partners. Can his brother help bring this MMA legend into the twentieth century when it comes to preparing for a fight or will Fedor retire before he gets the chance?

Herb Dean comfortable with decision to stop Fedor fight: “The fight is over when he’s unconscious”

One of the best referees in the game, Herb Dean has spoken out on his decision to stop this past weekends heavyweight tilt between Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson when he did, explaining if he was in the same situation again he’d change nothing.

Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Dean said:

“If I was to do it again – if I see a fighter face down receiving shots, I’m going to step in and stop the fight. I can’t predict how long he’s going to be unconscious for. The fight is over when he’s unconscious. Because he comes back swiftly after I’ve already stepped in and stopped the fight, I can’t restart the fight. Dan’s still throwing punches, but once I’ve touched Dan, I’ve stopped the fight.”

“I stepped in to support him once he stood up because his balance was still not totally there. I believe his motor control was still questionable. Once I see an unconscious fighter receiving blows while unconscious, that’s my job to prevent him from receiving more blows, and that’s what I’m going to do.”

Many fans have questioned whether the fight was stopped too early after Fedor rolled to his back after taking the third big strike and appeared to put his hands up to defend himself. Would a fresher Dan Henderson just continued to pour on the punishment if it had been allowed to continue?

Zuffa LLC. axes Marloes Coenen and Valentijn Overeem from Strikeforce and Jon Olav Einemo from the UFC

In one of the most underhanded moves of 2011 Zuffa LLC. has decided to take out their frustrations on the rest of the Golden Glory camp after they were unable to come to terms with Alistair Overeem late last month by axing a number of fighters from both the Strikeforce and UFC rosters.

Golden Glory head coach, Martin de Jong wrote on his Twitter page just moments ago:

“I am very disappointed to let you know that Marloes Coenen, John Einemo and Valentijn Overeem have been cut from Strikeforce [and the] UFC.”

Heading up the list is former Strikeforce 135 pound women’s champion, Marloes Coenen who was defeated by Miesha Tate just this past weekend in Chicago, Illinois. Also making the list is the heavyweight duo of Valentijn Overeem also from Strikeforce, and Jon Olav Einemo from the UFC.

The move has obviously been made out of spite by those at Zuffa headquarters frustrated that Overeem was one fight away from completing his contract with Strikeforce and had seemingly refused to sign an exclusive deal with them which would have seen him forced into leaving behind his over fighting ambitions. He was last week stripped of his title and dumped from the roster.

Me ne vado a Parigi per qualche giorno e guarda cosa succede! Ce ne sono stati di avvenimenti: ancora modifiche a UFC 133, i licenziamenti Zuffa e soprattutto l'evento Strikeforce con il primo TKO della carriera di Fedor (c'erano stati dei doctor stoppage mi pare comunque). Il russo direi che è alla fine della carriera.

Comunque evento SF che non m'è piaciuto mica tanto, buona prestazione di Saffiedine, ma in generale match un po sottotono a mio avviso rispetto al solito. Main event bello e intenso ma che dimostra come Fedor non sia ormai più adatto alle MMA del 2011, purtroppo non ho mai avuto l'impressione che stesse per battere Hendo, neanche nel rush finale, sembrava più un attacco poco ragionato in stile la va o la spacca....al contrario Hendo inanella un altra vittoria prestigiosissima, forse la più grande della sua carriera, e dimostra di essere ormai a tutti gli effetti un fighter da mettere nel main event con chiunque e renderlo un bello spettacolo dal punto di vista delle aspettative e poi dell'effettivo svolgimento.

Ovviamente Coenen lo smerda dopo poco postando scan dei suoi assegni da SF e intestati direttamente a lei.

Lascia stare, la cosa personalmente mi fa imbestialire, Ubereem per quel che mi riguarda era la next big thing, invece vuoi per colpa sua vuoi per colpa loro sembra che ormai il futuro sia da mezzo journeyman....

Prima difesa del titolo??

Si, a più di 1 anno dalla prima tra l'altro!! La situazione del titolo HW a mio avviso è ai limiti del ridicolo, difeso due volte in due anni, ha meno credibilità della malattia di Lesnar

Tra l'altro proprio un mesetto fa è uscito su ESPN che Lesnar è il fighter più pagato al mondo, 5,3 milioni ad incontro, personalmente continuo a trovarlo uno schifo e spero che SE (e sottolineo se, perchè io non ci scommetterei un soldo bucato) torna a lottare venga trattato come gli altri
