If you ask Alberto Del Rio, his destiny to become World Heavyweight Champion was simply delayed at WrestleMania. Also according to The Mexican Aristocrat, he was moments away from making World Heavyweight Champion Edge tap out to his Cross Armbreaker.

However, on the first SmackDown after their WrestleMania bout, 11-Time World Champion Edge reminded Del Rio that he just couldn’t get the job done.

Furious at The Rated-R Superstar’s taunting – combined with the fact that Edge defaced his Rolls Royce at WrestleMania and again on SmackDown – Del Rio called for a rematch. Although the champion rebuffed Del Rio’s demands – suggesting he buy a new car and get to the back of the challenger line – SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long granted Del Rio’s wishes with a No. 1 Contender’s Match against Christian.

After successfully defeating Captain Charisma, Del Rio quickly put himself back in the hunt for Edge’s title. But has he bitten off more than he can chew?

At Extreme Rules, Del Rio will face The Ultimate Opportunist in a bout deemed to be his specialty – the Ladder Match. If The Grandest Stage of Them All presented a challenge for Del Rio, certainly he faces an even greater one at Extreme Rules.
