Avevo già visto ma ho messo la notizia completa (visto che non c'è nemmeno il nome Fedor nella frase del post precedente).

Detto questo, Fedor LHW non lo vorrei mai vedere. Non ora almeno. 5-6 anni fa avrebbe avuto senso (con Silva-LilNog-Shogun-Arona-Rampage-etc al pride) ma ora proprio no.

Per me lo prende un po' di striscio ma sulla tempia, un po' come il colpo del ko di Lesnar contro Couture. Feijao cade male ma proprio perché il colpo l'ha subito.
Qualsiasi cosa faccia Fedor spero di poterlo rivedere lottare, fosse anche come junior flyweight...

M-1 Global deny possible light heavyweight switch for Fedor Emelianenko’s next fight inside the cage

M-1 Global chief, Evangi Kogan has today dismissed reports that the Russian based promotions prized asset, Fedor Emelianenko was set to move down to light heavyweight in order to go head-to-head with Strikeforce champion, Dan Henderson for his next fight.

Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Kogan said:

“The way that things work with us is that Fedor always makes the decisions. I can’t speak on his behalf. I can say that there’s been no discussions with us about this, and so we’ve not been involved with discussions on a potential fight with Dan Henderson.”

Fedor must decide in the next couple of months what to do next in his career, does he stay at heavyweight and face another monster, does he drop to 205 pounds for the first time or does he take a catchweight bout against someone like “Hendo”.

La dichiarazione in sé è assolutamente sensata, è l'autore della news che ha scritto una cazzata, per lo meno se ci si ferma ad analizzare quanto riportato se poi c'è un lungo articolo in cui si dice qualcosa di diverso, è un altro discorso. Mi sfugge il nesso tra "decide Fedor, e non ci ha ancora detto niente" e "L'M-1 nega il match Fedro-Hendo".

E tra l'altro, per quale motivo uno che ha perso due volte di fila dovrebbe ottenere una title shot?

Handy "da Natural" Couture ci ha costruito una carriera in quel modo...

Comunque dai non è uno che ha perso due volte di fila, è Fedor "il più forte fighter di sempre" Emelianenko. Penso che nessuno, sicuramente non Hendo ma neanche nessun altro contender della divisione si potrebbe mai lamentare per una title shot al russo. Tanto più in una divisione in cui tutti i top hanno almeno una sconfitta recente (Mousasi, King Mo, Kyle, Feijao) e gli altri sono un po' troppo acerbi a livello di record (OSP, Roger).

UFC Purchases Strikeforce, Dominance of American MMA Landscape Continues

This is obviously huge, shocking news. The interesting thing will be to see how the property is used. Dana says that the company will be run as a separate entity and it will be "business as usual" but how they handle branding and if the UFC will allow for cross-over fights and such is the big story.

Most MMA fans remember the Zuffa purchase of PRIDE and how quickly plans to run the Japanese organization separately went by the wayside. Still, the realities of Japanese business were a much bigger hurdle to overcome than dealing with Showtime and an already stable promotion. Stay tuned, much more to come on this story in the coming hours.

Zuffa Purchases Strikeforce

Strikeforce is no longer the UFC’s biggest competitor.

In a video interview with Ariel Helwani posted to MMAFighting.com on Saturday morning, UFC President Dana White announced that Zuffa has purchased the San Jose, Calif.-based fight promotion.

“It's literally official right now. We literally just purchased Strikeforce,” said White. “I don't want to disclose any of the details on how the deal was done, but the reality is that we now own Strikeforce.”

White explained the reasons behind the purchase in the interview, stating that expanding Zuffa's talent pool was a necessary step to take as the promotion ventures into more international endeavors.

“As we go out and [continue to expand], we need more fights. Let's face facts. Strikeforce is a brand that fans have come to like and [the fans] enjoy the fights that they're putting on. So it made sense to us,” said White. “Our job is to put on the big fights that fans want to see, and as we continue to travel [abroad], we have to put on the right fights in these other countries.”

While White would not disclose the exact length of the negotiation period, the UFC boss did confirm that the buyout “happened quickly,” when asked if the talks lasted less than six months.

White then revealed that while Strikeforce is now the property of Zuffa, Scott Coker's promotion would not be dissolved. Rather, Strikeforce will continue to operate independently under the supervision of its new parent company.

“Strikeforce is going to continue to run -- business as usual. There are contracts in place, and we honor contracts. These guys pull good ratings on Showtime, and all of those contracts are going to be honored. These guys are going to remain Strikeforce fighters.”

White then elaborated on that concept, asserting that Coker would continue in his role as Strikeforce head, maintaining the promotion's operations and managing the talent. According to White, this means that Coker will have license to re-sign fighters at his discretion, including talents with whom White takes issue, such as Paul Daley and Josh Barnett.

“We've signed a deal with Scott Coker. He's staying on. You've seen me battle with guys over the years, but I’ve never had a bad thing to say about Scott Coker. I’ve known Scott since the K-1 days. Scott is a good guy.”

Anche se, per ora, la situazione non è del tutto chiara, visto che, a quanto pare, le due federazioni resteranno distinte. Hanno già messo in chiaro alcune cose, ma è bene aspettare ulteriori delucidazioni.
Fatto sta che Dana White è un genio.
