The show started with the kickoff ceremony for KING OF GATE 2016. Masato Yoshino gave the opening speech since he was the 2015 winner. He explained the changes to the format this year. One entire month of matches will be hard both mentally and physically on everyone. He promised to once again stand tall as the victor at the end.

Verserk again jumped YAMATO after his match. Hulk made the save. Takagi was furious. Once again this guy was sticking his nose where it didn’t belong. Word is he was returning to the ring tonight. Well. He has some shitty luck because he will be across from him today. Takagi was planning on ripping his shoulder off and sending him back to the hospital. The New Verserk were unstoppable.
Hulk disagreed. This was his business. YAMATO was fighting alongside him now to stop Verserk. Today he was returning. He was going against Tanizaki, Kotoka, and Takagi. Shingo Takagi. SHINGO TAKAGI. He has suffered at his hands many times in the past, but that BxB Hulk no longer exists. This is a new BxB Hulk and he wouldn’t be beaten by Shingo Takagi.

Kzy welcomed Hulk back to the ring. He had been waiting for this day. In recent times, they had agreed to fight together with Maria when Hulk returned. They were watching the events of DEAD or ALIVE unfold and couldn’t stand idly by. They now will be fighting with YAMATO as well.
Hulk thanked the fans for supporting him in his comeback. Like he told YAMATO in Aichi, he really really hates Shingo Takagi. He understands how YAMATO feels. YAMATO was kicked out of his unit. Hulk also understands how that feels. While he was out, his beloved Dia HEARTS was disbanded. Hulk knows what it feels like to be unitless. But no one is alone. Hulk is there. YAMATO is there. Kzy & Maria are there. They will fight together as a new unit to shape the future of Dragon Gate. He talked about his rehab and training. Training, rehab, sparring. He has reinvented his conditioning and body. This is a reborn BxB Hulk.
He turned his attention to Verserk. If you pick a fight with YAMATO, there will be no mercy. You are also picking a fight with Hulk, with Kzy, and with Maria.
Takagi hoped Hulk enjoyed his celebration gifts of chairs and clotheslines. He has said it numerous times. Only the strong survive and Hulk is not strong. He is looking forward to relieving his stress on YAMATO & Hulk.

CIMA celebrated kicking off KOG with a win. It’s been awhile since he had to fight so hard for a win. He isn’t ready to start losing. It doesn’t suit him. If he has to fight with every last breath then so be it. He fought a very strong opponent today. Even he himself didn’t think he would win. He talked about the high level of competition brought on by the likes of Takagi, Doi, Yoshino, Hulk, Tozawa, and the man who recently walked through a new door, YAMATO. The old and the very new were not going to be left behind, though. Gamma won today. He is a survivor. Dragon Kid is still dangerous. They will continue to tread the dangerous waters that is the new Dragon Gate.

(9) GWC Single Championship Match: [9th Champion] Daisuke vs. [Challenger] Mr. Gannosuke
◆Winner: Gannosuke (33:32) following a Fire Thunder.
~ Champion falls on his 8th title defense. Gannosuke becomes the 10th generation champion.
~ Gannosuke declared that this title win is in honor of his late friend Hayabusa.
~ He also said that everyone in GUTS works hard and he is proud to have returned to wrestling to be apart of this promotion. He hopes the promotion will continue to rise in the future.

E ovviamente il regno di Daisuke termina con un match di mezz'ora
Intanto in W-1 Shotaro Ashino è diventato primo sfidante, mentre in DDT Sasaki ha difeso contro Sakaguchi (e Takeshita è ufficialmente il nuovo primo sfidante). La IGF ha invece dichiarato che sta per iniziare una nuova era per la promotion. Praticamente da ora faranno wrestling
Inoki ha capito che aria tirava.


Intanto ho visto anche la seconda serata di Carnival. Meno notevole della prima, ma era scontato.
Kengo Mashimo vs Naoya Nomura: Meno di 10 minuti ma fatti da manuale. Vittoria per Mashimo ma il rookie esce dalla sconfitta a testa alta, nonostante il basso minutaggio.

Zeus vs Yutaka Yoshie: Ma Yoshie è dimagrito un botto o sbaglio? Match molto fisico, non esattamente spettacolare ma comunque buono.

Takao Omori vs Ryouji Sai: Anche il match tra veterani viene su solido. Peccato per le fasi centrali, confuse e con il classico rissone tra il pubblico che ha senso giusto alla Korakuen. Dal ritorno nel ring fino al termine il match prende quota e migliora sensibilmente.

Molto bene anche Jake Lee/Mashimo e Zeus/Okabayashi. Con un buon minutaggio il primo potrebbe essere la prova del nove di Jake Lee contro ormai un veterano che potrebbe aiutarlo tantissimo (visto che con Omori non mi ha sorpreso per nulla) mentre il secondo potrebbe essere seriamente il 3 match di fila azzeccato di Zeus.

More details were released for the upcoming “SUPER-J CUP 2016”.

A first round has been added to the tournament and will be taking place on 7/20 at the Korakuen Hall (8 matches in total). The original event on 8/21 at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo is still scheduled and will be hosting the second half matches (4 second round matches, 2 semi-finals and more notably the final match). It was also detemined that New Japan and NOAH will both be hosting the events as they will be offering the most amount of involved wrestlers. Along with information is that All Japan Pro-Wrestling will be offering a wrestler to compete as well.

● NOAH (Tokyo) = 3 wrestlers

La theme di Zeus è troppo.

Comunque è molto meno impacciato di una volta. Sembra che si muova come un essere umano.

Visto il terzo e il quarto giorno di Carnival. Della terza giornata il top sono Sekimoto vs Akiyama e Miyahara vs Nomura, ma anche Sai vs Aoki è molto buono. In generale tutta la roba da torneo è di buon livello.

Il quarto giorno è stato quello con gli accoppiamenti meno favorevoli, tipo il Tigrotto vs Bodyguard (anche se è stato affascinante vedere l'ace della RJPW tentare di portare il gorillone nel suo campo) o Aoki vs Yoshie, ma anche qui è tutto più che decente, con 3 incontri di alto livello. Da segnalare la vittoria di Jake Lee su Omori, un bella spintona per un rookie. Dal punto di vista del lottato è buono, pur se con un finale un po' moscio: il ragazzo sta imparando a stare bene nel ring, in particolare sta diventando bravo nel selling, però è veramente poco intenso in fase di attacco. E se c'è una cosa in cui un ex shooter (soprattutto quando hai un fisico così) dovrebbe eccellere è proprio l'intensità. Per il resto continuo a pensare che anche qui ci siano ottime basi. Chi invece l'intensità sa trasmetterla eccome è Nomura, che continua a impressionarmi match dopo match. In teoria con Sekimoto non è difficile, ma è incredibile come questo ragazzino non ne sbagli uno. Il mio MOTN. Molto buoni anche Sai vs Kamitani e Akiyama vs Miyahara, nonostante quest'ultimo sia stato breve e inizialmente un po' a freno a mano tirato, magari in vista di un futuro title match.

Visto Endless Survivor della BJW. Buonissimo show con due ottimi Main Event e due match di coppia godibilissimi (quello con Hashimoto e con Fujita).
Per dire qualche parola in più sui due main event... beh, Ishikawa/Okayabashi è stato il classico massacro tra membri della divisione. In altre parole, non ha disatteso le aspettative. Purtroppo, temo che ormai sarà difficile vedere match tra gente della generazione di Ishikawa/Okabayashi che possa riuscire a superare le aspettative (anche se la storia insegna che il capolavoro potrebbe piovere dal cielo da un momento all'altro, vedi quel capolavoro di draw tra gli Strong BJ/Twin Towers).
Ottimo anche Ito/Takahashi, probabilmente il migliore UV di quest'anno (anche se confesso di averne visti pochissimi non più essendo un fan dell'UV).

Lo vedrò a breve ma non mi sorprende, già i due l'anno scorso hanno dimostrato AMPIAMENTE di avere una grande alchimia.

Non capisco perché O'Reilly perda ancora tempo negli USA quando in Giappone potrebbe ripercorrere il percorso di Omega

Perchè non ha la presenza scenica, le abilità al microfono, la tamarraggine e la capacità di "vendersi" di Kenny Omega. Al massimo in Giappone potrebbe arrivare ad essere il top in ambito junior in New Japan, nulla di più.
