Puntata che non hypa a dovere Wrestlepalooza... un po' moscetta, a dirla tutta.
Felice che diano un po' di spazio a Gertner al di fuori delle introduzioni sul ring... anche se quegli occhiali fanno perdere tutta l'aria da Quintessential Studmuffin.
Il promo di Taz è un po' surreale... concordo con Joey sul fatto che non aveva bisogno di essere più incazzoso, e purtroppo tutta la questione "è uno shoot" è invecchiata parecchio male, visto l'abuso che se ne è fatto.
Vediamo poi tutta una serie di clip da vari show, tra cui un dance off tra Blue Meanie e Tracy Smothers, un promo brutto di Justin Credible, Taz che stende un arbitro, Bigelow che lancia Bill Alfonso tra la folla e Sandman che ritorna per vendicarsi dei Dudleyz. Tutto ok, ma forse avrei preferito si fossero concentrati su meno roba, ma con un'ora alla settimana si faceva quel che si poteva...
Candido vs Rotten è alla fin fine dignitoso, ma dopo un inizio di buon ritmo si perde, sennò poteva essere anche meglio. Comunque alla fine Rotten si prende la vittoria con il SST, ma nella rissa post match Candido e Bigelow si prendono la rivincita su di lui e Mahoney.
Durante Snow vs Sabu vediamo RVD con una maglia di Sabu con scritto in rosa "HOMOcidal". :-D Comunque il match è discreto nel suo essere un Sabu Show, ma sono felice che sul ring l'utilizzo di head sia diminuito drasticamente, perchè andava bene per i comedy match nel midcard, ma non nel main event. Finale veramente terribile comunque, scrivendo il match così hanno fatto fare all'arbitro la figura dell'imbecille, anche se hanno preservato entrambi.

Eccolo! Allora, questo PPV non riceve molto amore, ma a me piacque abbastanza. Meglio dell'ultimo PPV, si prende più tempo. Sorpresa dell'evento sicuramente il match per i titoli Tag, miracolo tirato su da Candido e Storm.

Capitolo ME, in cui ho sempre pensato che avrebbe dovuto vincere Snow. La mia retrofantapippa è semplice e geniale: Snow vince, nega la shot a Taz perché è uno stronzo e perché deve faticare come tutti per guadagnarla. Douglas invoca il rematch, e dice a Taz che se lo aiuta gli darà subito una shot. Taz aiuta Douglas a vincere il titolo, e ovviamente Douglas lo frega in qualche modo. Easy, visto pure che nel corso dell'anno la storia prenderà quasi questa piega, in almeno due occasioni.
Il match così è un abortino, e la mega celebrazione nel post è veramente stupida e fuoriluogo.

Trivia: ho letto in giro che Heyman avrebbe voluto veramente far vincere Snow, visto anche che Douglas era rotto e che voleva comunque che Taz vincesse il titolo dal Franchise, anche a costo di aspettare. Solo che McMahon si svegliò la mattina decidendo che aveva assolutamente bisogno di lui a Raw, subito. A fare cosa non si sa, visto che nei primi 6 mesi in WWF Snow fece tipo tre apparizioni e basta. PPV scialbo e dimenticabile pressochè in toto, che mantiene lo stesso livello medio-basso dall'inizio alla fine.
Si parte con FBI vs Nova & Meanie, e il match è un discreto comedy match, che purtroppo si trascina un po' nel finale. Comunque alla fine vincono i face con una Novacaine di Nova su Little Guido.
Mikey vs Credible è dignitoso, ma ne hanno fatti di migliori... Credible per una volta ottiene reazioni dal pubblico (anche se l'audio è assurdo, va su e giù a caso), ma onestamente continua ad annoiare me.
Candido & Storm vs Balls & Axl è dignitoso, ma penso che la scelta di fare un tag team match classico abbia tolto più agli sfidanti di quanto abbia aiutato i campioni. Alla fine i campioni mantengono nel marasma nonostante le frizioni per Sunny, che spero partecipi di più alla storia d'ora in poi perchè la routine mantenuta finora sta iniziando a stancare...
Una cerimonia con le vecchie glorie del sud in ECW mi fa davvero strano, ma d'altronde erano di fronte ad un pubblico non loro come quello della Georgia. Questa sarà una delle ultime apparizioni di Junkyard Dog in uno show di wrestling, perchè morirà il mese successivo in un incidente d'auto.
Il promo di Shane Douglas come al solito serve più che altro a mandare over se stesso, ma è il post promo che continua a creare l'attesa verso il match tra Taz e Shane Douglas che come nella miglior tradizione di Heyman penso aspetteremo ancora molto.
Nota a parte, la security della ECW è sembrata efficace nel dividere qualcuno. Stranissimo :-D
New Jack vs Bigelow è un match di New Jack, e come tale non è decisamente il mio genere. Comunque vince Bigelow con la sua Greetings from Asbury Park, mostrandosi ancora una volta dominante.
Dreamer & Sandman vs Dudley Boyz non sarà un classico dal punto di vista del wrestling, ma è più che godibile per le emozioni che permeano l'overbooking selvaggio nel finale. Dreamer e Sandman si prendono la loro rivincita...
RVD vs Sabu è solo discreto, un po' perchè sono amici e non c'è una rivalità che possa infiammare il match, un po' perchè entrambi avrebbero bisogno di qualcuno che guidi il match, e quindi 30 minuti sono assolutamente troppi, ma era un classico ECW quello di esagerare i minutaggi dei match di cartello. Però è stato un tocco di classe mettere Jeff Jones come arbitro, ma farlo arbitrare correttamente perchè pappa e ciccia con Alfonso.
Il main event non è niente di che, Douglas ha fin troppa offensiva per uno che si vendeva come mezzo morto, sicuramente per il suo ego, ma in generale il ritmo è parecchio lento, privo di pathos e con un finale piuttosto piatto. Poi il post-match è francamente ridicolo... manco avessero fatto il matchone della vita.
