Nel corso delle ultime ore è stato reso noto da più fonti che la WWE, Ric e Charlotte Flair siano stati citati da Riki Paul Johnson, ex marito di Charlotte, a causa di alcune dichiarazioni fatte dalla stessa Charlotte contenute nel libro WWE Second Nature: Legacy of Ric Flair and Rise of Charlotte Flair, pubblicato a due mani da padre e figlia per la WWE insieme a Brian Shields, giornalista anch'egli citato in causa.

In un capitolo della doppia biografia, infatti, Johnson viene descritto dall'ex Women's Champion come aggressivo e causa di numerosi maltrattamenti, oltre al fatto che viene definito sterile. Johnson ha fatto causa per calunnie soprattutto riguardo queste due esternazioni, non solo perché già diventato padre ma anche perché, a suo dire, quella aggressiva durante la relazione era Ashley, vero nome della figlia di Flair.

Nel corso della tarda serata americana, poi, il sito Ringsidenews ha dichiarato di essere riuscito ad avere una copia del testo della denuncia (pubblicandone le prime due pagine, che trovate al fondo, come prova), rivelando che Johnson abbia chiesto 5 milioni di dollari di risarcimento alla famiglia Flair, Shields e alla WWE per quanto contenuto nel libro. Il sito svela inoltre che, a sostegno delle sue accuse, Johnson ha dichiarato tramite il suo legale di poter produrre delle prove, anche video, dell'aggressività di Ashley. Secondo gli allegati alla denuncia, ci sarebbe un video registrato a bordo di una pattuglia della polizia del Nord Carolina che attesterebbe l'aggressività della wrestler nei confronti; e, più precisamente, la descriverebbe come: "Aggressiva e fuori controllo, [impegnata] in una tirata fisica e verbale che è stata diretta contro gli agenti di polizia che hanno risposto alla chiamata, così come i suoi commenti dispregiativi e razzisti indirizzati alla comunità afro-americana a Chapel Hill, NC".

Non è ancora arrivata una risposta ufficiale alle accuse da parte della compagnia, della famiglia Flair o di Shields e, ad oggi, il libro è ancora in vendita sia sui canali ufficiali della WWE che in tutti gli altri; di conseguenza non ci sono ancora notizie su come verrà gestita la situazione, per altro molto simile, per il tema razzismo, alla recente "vicenda Hogan". Vi aggiorneremo su questa newsboard qualora arrivassero ulteriori informazioni sulla vicenda.
