The Crown Coliseum was set up like TNA usually does with big arenas, with one-half blocked off by a big black curtain with the entrance stage in the middle. By the opening bell, the floor and lower level was almost completely full, so for TNA it was a big crowd, a couple thousand people at least. The crowd was loud, but not as loud as it felt like it could have been given the number of fans in the building.

Before and during the show, Jeremy Borash did the spiel he does at the house shows, promising backstage passes to the loudest fans.

Before the taping started, some footage from the February 24 Impact episode was shown; a bunch of Jeff & Karen Jarrett skits as they picked out wedding clothes and talked to a priest, and the first half of the three-way match between Angle, RVD, and Anderson.

Impact Taping for March 3

Dixie Carter came to the ring to speak to the fans. She said that the morning’s decision by the judge concerning who controls TNA didn’t go in her favor. Eric Bischoff and Immortal (Matt Hardy, Rob Terry, Gunner, and Murphy) came out to gloat, saying they are in total control of TNA now. Bischoff said he still thinks Dixie’s got a lot of balls, even though she is a woman in the man’s world of pro wrestling. Ric Flair came out next (to a babyface pop, since the show’s in N.C.) and said some stuff to Dixie, like that there was a Holiday Inn nearby where they could go.

Eric Bischoff then introduced the returning Hulk Hogan. He got more cheers than boos. Hogan rambled a little less than he usually does on TNA shows, talking about how he and Eric were 100 percent in control of the company now.

Next, Fortune came out and cut some decent promos (except for Kazarian, who just had a bad one-liner). When they tried to go into the ring to fight Immortal, TNA security stopped them.

(1) TNA tag champions Beer Money (Robert Roode & “Cowboy” James Storm) beat Gunner & Murphy to retain the TNA World Tag Team Titles. The match was even-steven until Beer Money took control in the last minute and won with a DWI.

After the match, Ink Inc. came out and Shannon Moore issued a challenge to Beer Money for a tag title match at Victory Road, which Storm and Roode accepted.

(2) Velvet Sky (w/Angelina Love) beat Sarita (w/Rosita) with a DDT. This was the match with the stipulation that if Velvet lost, she would quit TNA. During the match, Love and Rosita ended up in the ring fighting each other, so referee Earl Hebner sent them both to the back for the rest of the match. The action in this match wasn’t pretty, but the contest was short, at least.

After the match, Robbie E., Cookie, and Angelina Pivarnick from “Jersey Shore” came out to confront the Beautiful People. In the first of many slips of the night, Robbie E. fell on his butt as the Shore reached the bottom of the entrance ramp and Cookie was cutting a promo. It ended up a brawl, then Velvet issued a challenge for a six-woman tag match on the next week’s show.

Next was supposed to be the Jarrett vow renewal ceremony. A multi-tiered wedding cake was set up on the entrance stage. Eric Young and Orlando Jordan came out first, with Young as the ring bearer and Jordan (in a woman’s skirt) as the flower girl. Jeff Jarrett followed, but before he could make his way down the ramp, Kurt Angle attacked him from behind, slipping on the stage as he ran out. Angle beat on Jeff for 30 seconds, then Karen ran out and jumped on Kurt’s back to get him off of Jeff. Kurt ended up grabbing Karen and putting her face through the wedding cake.

(3) Scott Steiner beat “The Freak” Rob Terry with the Steiner Recliner. Steiner dominated most of the match, which only lasted a few minutes.

Around this time, Borash announced that the Jarrett ceremony would still take place tonight. It ended up being the last thing filmed, so presumably it airs on March 10 instead of March 3 as advertised.

(4) Hernandez vs. Matt Morgan ended in a double count-out. During this match, someone I didn’t recognize joined Taz and Tenay on commentary. Morgan controlled the match until they ended up on the outside and Hernandez sent Morgan into the ring steps. Hernandez kept beating on Morgan at ringside until the ref called for the DCO.

(5) Sting beat TNA World champion Jeff Hardy to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Up until Jeff Hardy was in the ring, all that the fans knew was that Hardy would be defending his World title against a mystery opponent. Hardy came out to a loud crowd response, almost all of it positive. On the big screen, the “3/3/11” numbers were shown, followed by a lot of lightning, then Sting’s video and music hit, getting a big pop. Sting came out wearing a shiny, colorful new ring coat and new wrestling gear. As Sting walked down the ramp, a big technical glitch happened, as backstage video of some of the Knockouts was shown on the big screen for a few seconds. Sting looked in better shape than he’s looked in a year or so. Hardy and Sting had a 12-15-minute match that was about what you’d expect from the two of them, and Sting won clean after a couple of Scorpion Death Drops. Sting celebrated in the ring for a few minutes after the match, enjoying the adulation of the surprised fans.

March 10

Quote:
(1) “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero beat Samoa Joe (w/Okato). The Pope came though the crowd in the darkened arena as Joe waited for him to come out via the entrance stage. Dinero hit Okato from behind, which took him out for the duration of the match. During the match, Pope removed the cover off a turnbuckle. Joe got Pope onto the opposite turnbuckle to set up a Muscle Buster, but with the ref’s back turned as he tried to put the turnbuckle cover back on, Pope hit Joe with a chain-wrapped fist. Pope then covered Joe for the tainted victory.

(2) Knockouts champion Madison Rayne (w/Tara) beat Roxxi to retain the TNA Knockouts Title. After Rayne and Tara got in the ring, Roxxi began making her entrance, but it must have been a screw-up because she stopped, then Madison cut a short promo. Roxxi then made her full entrance. Madison won in a few minutes, then started beating up Roxxi after the match. Mickie James ran down to make the save.

(3) Velvet Sky & Angelina Love & Winter beat Sarita & Cookie & Angelina from “Jersey Shore” (w/Rosita). Angelina from “Jersey Shore” was actually in this somewhat-short match a lot, and was the one pinned by Velvet. The reality show star didn’t look too awful.

(4) Ink, Inc. (Shannon Moore & Jesse Neal) beat Generation Me (Max Buck & Jeremy Buck) with the Mooregasm. Beer Money joined Taz and Tenay on commentary during the match. After the match, Moore got on the microphone and told Beer Money that the “Book of DILLIGAF” said that Ink, Inc. would beat them for the tag titles at Victory Road, then Storm said Beer Money would kick their asses at the PPV.

Sting came out to cut a promo, thanking the fans for supporting him during his career. He also said Jeff Hardy is one of the best wrestlers he’s ever been in the ring with, but Jeff needs to stop drinking the Hogan-Bischoff Kool-Aid. Hogan and Bischoff came out to confront Sting, then Mr. Anderson, Jeff Hardy, and Rob Van Dam all came out separately to say they deserved the first shot at Sting’s TNA Title. Hardy said he was robbed of his title because he had to fight an opponent he couldn’t prepare for. Bischoff made a match for later, Anderson & Hardy vs. Sting & RVD.

A backstage scene was shown on the big screen with Flair, Bischoff, Hogan, and the Jarretts. Karen still had cake on her, so I guess the skit was filmed for the March 3 episode.

Ric Flair and Matt Hardy came out to cut promos, but were interrupted by A.J. Styles. Flair and Hardy got more cheers from the N.C. crowd than Styles did. Flair said this was Flair country and Styles countered by saying TNA was the “house that A.J. Styles built.” Hardy talked about why he’s “Cold Blood” Matt Hardy now, then a match began, one that hadn’t been announced during the evening.

(5) “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair & Matt Hardy beat “The Phenomenal” A.J. Styles in what looked like a two-on-one Street Fight. The stipulations of the match were never announced, but Styles was wearing jeans in the match and weapons were allowed, so I presume it was a Street Fight. Flair bled after being thrown into the ring barrier. A.J. got Flair in the Figure Four, but Hardy did a leg drop on Styles before Flair could tap out. A minute later, Styles was about to give Hardy a Styles Clash on a chair in the middle of the ring, but Flair gave A.J. a low blow. Hardy hit Styles with a Twist of Hate on the chair, then Flair got the pin.

The ring crew changed the canvas and cleaned up Flair’s blood from the ringside area.

Backstage, Borash interviewed Sting about the main event tag match, but Anderson brutally attacked Sting, leaving him on the ground in a lot of pain.

(6) TNA World Hvt. champion Sting & Rob Van Dam beat Jeff Hardy & Mr. Anderson. RVD started the match without a partner, as Sting never came out after his music played. Hardy and Anderson tagged each other into the match with hard slaps to the face. After they dominated RVD for a while, Sting’s music hit again and the lights went out. When the lights came back on, Sting was in the ring. Sting cleaned house and RVD ended up hitting Anderson with a Five-Star Frog Splash for the win.

Backstage, Kurt Angle was approached by Flair, who had New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott with him. Flair told Angle that if he tried to mess up the Jarrett ceremony this time, Scott would be there to punish Angle for interfering.

The Jarrett vow renewal ceremony ended the taping. This time, the ring was decorated for the ceremony with flowers and a white arch. Jeff Jarrett came down to the ring without incident this time, then Kurt and Karen walked down. Kurt had a smile on his face, so you knew he was up to something. Of course, Karen and Jeff had written their own vows, which were really corny. All this stuff got a lot of heat. After the ceremony ended, Kurt pulled out a fire axe that was hidden and chopped the decorations up. As the Jarretts left, Flair and Bart Scott came out. Scott got in the ring and faced off with Angle, but Angle took him down and got him in the Anklelock. Scott tapped out, then security came out to restrain Angle, and the show ended.

Everybody else in Immortal is doing great, brother. Sting needs to look out for himself. Hogan has main eventers all around the world wanting to jump on his back and join in with the tsunami taking over wrestling. Sting says if the phone is ringing off the hook, where are the people? All he ever sees is Hogan and Bischoff with some jokes behind them.

AJ slaps Ray in the face.

Mr. Anderson's music hits and gets in the ring. Anderson immediately asks for his rematch. He gets in Hogan's face and wants to know where it is. Hogan says he really is an a--hole. Anderson says yes, he is an a--hole. Hogan says he had a top contenders shot and couldn't get the job done. Anderson says Rob Van Dam couldn't get it done either. Bischoff says how about a four-way for the #1 contenders match? Mr. Anderson vs. RVD vs. Bully Ray vs. AJ Styles. Anderson says they can't do that. Bischoff says he can and he did.

Brooke Hogan is here. Hogan's wife is here too.

Ink Inc. vs. Scott Steiner & Crimson. Winner via Red Alert from Crimson to Shannon Moore, Scott Steiner & Crimson. Moore threw Steiner's headgear at him after the match and Neal had to stop a brawl from erupting.

For the TNA Knockouts Championship, Alissa Flash vs. Madison Rayne w/Tara. Winner via Rayne Drop in under a minute, Madison Rayne. Mickie James runs out right away but Madison and Tara bail. James is sick of Rayne's ridiculous title bouts. If she's a fighting champ then come here and fight me. Madison asks James what she thinks gives her the right to demand title shot after title shot after title shot. She's out of chances and it's not worth her while. James asks what would make it worth her while? Madison wants Mickie's locks. After beating Mickie she wants to embarrass her and shave her head. Mickie agrees.

Jeff and Karen Jarrett are now out. Jeff says the alpha male has something to say. Kurt Angle does not have one shred of honor or dignity left in him. As a good man he can no longer do this to Kurt. He offers up a truce to Kurt Angle. He will rise up and be the better man and put an end to the misery. They have to co-exist for the kids. Kurt, please come out and beg for forgiveness. Kurt comes out holding a big present. He walks with a smile and hands the box to Karen. Kurt says Jeff is right. He's a husband and father and they need to co-exist. USA chant starts. Jeff, Kurt and Karen raise their hands together to pose but Kurt grabs the guitar and smashes it on Jeff and busts him open hardway. Karen goes for a low blow but Kurt isn't affected. He goes in his pants and pulls out a cup. Jeff is bleeding profusely from the head in multiple places. Karen cowers in the corner and he tells her to "stay down." He says he's sick of this and will end her. He wants Jeff in a cage at Lockdown. Jeff shakes his head no. Morgan ran them off and then celebrated in the ring.

For the #1 contendership to the TNA Championship, AJ Styles vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Bully Ray vs. Mr. Anderson. No winner. A chair was in the ring and Anderson gave RVD a back suplex. Earl Hebner counted three but both of their shoulders were down because they were knocked out. Ray and AJ fought all over after the match. They went to the announcers table and ended up on the stage. AJ went to Ray with a chair but Ric Flair hit AJ with a low blow. Ray grabbed AJ and gave him a sit out powerbomb off the stage through a table. Agents and referees rushed out to check on them. Both are out of it and woozy. Paramedics are out with a stretcher and are taking AJ to the hospital. Fortune is out checking on AJ. Ray got up and pushed some security guys around and left. Ray came back out and tried to get back at AJ. Agents held him back. He went to the other side of the stage and fell. It looks like Bully Ray hurt himself and might have pulled a quad or blown his knee out.

Ray-Styles.
RVD-Anderson.
