Bhè, più o meno, comunque Lawler era uno dei nomi di richiamo che usava la Tri-State, cioè la federazione di Goodhart che fece la proto-ECW, prima della Eastern di Gordon.

ECW Hardcore TV 3/7/1997
La puntata, pur con i due match di apertura abbastanza validi, è imperdibile solo per il finale ATOMICO del tag team match, l'unica cosa veramente memorabile dello show.
Pitbull#2 vs Bigelow è stato meglio del previsto, devo dire... sul ring si sono trovati bene e il risultato è stato discreto grazie anche alle interferenze. Ammetto però che visti i wrestler coinvolti mi sarebbe piaciuto molto di più vedere Pitbulls vs Douglas & Bigelow, visto che i primi in coppia rendevano meglio che in singolo.
Non male anche Candido vs Pritchard. Si vede che Dr. Tom si è voluto mettere in gioco, e il match per quello che si vede è godibile, con anche Candido che riconosce gli sforzi dell'avversario a fine match.
Dreamer & Sandman vs RVD & Sabu come match è spezzettato e confuso, anche se adoro Dreamer & Sandman che fanno le combo da tag team ma quello che conta è il post match, con l'arrivo di Lawler e di un altro che è forse una delle più grosse antitesi della ECW: Jim Cornette, che danno la vittoria e un heat atomica al duo heel. Ah... avevo le cuffie ma le ho tolte per colpa del fischietto di Alfonso.
Nota a margine... quando Lawler ha colpito Dreamer con la singapore cane nei testicoli, l'ha fatto veramente. Dal DVD "The Rise and Fall of ECW" apprendiamo che dopo il match gli furono drenati 40 cc di sangue dal testicolo destro. Ouch.

Da qualche parte ricordo di aver letto/sentito che Cornette accettò di partecipare solo se Heyman avesse fatto pace/parlato con Coralluzzo, il capoccia della NWA che disse che Douglas non avrebbe mai dovuto vincere il titolo, scatenando di fatto lo shoot del 1994. Jimbo non si aspettava che Heyman accettasse., e invece il giorno stabilito arriva una limousine a prendere entrambi, con ordine di andare dove volevano prima di arrivare all'Arena. I due vanno a spese di Heyman in un ristorante di lusso, e poi arrivano nel parcheggio della Arena e aspettano per tipo due ore, fino a quando Heyman non arriva, stringe calorosamente la mano a entrambi, e butta Cornette nella mischia. E ba, finita così.

Il PPV WWF è uno dei migliori di sempre, e quel match a squadre è meraviglioso. La prestazione di Austin che più me lo fa venire duro. Cattiveria e ignoranza per 40 minuti.

ECW Hardcore TV 10/7/1997
Puntata meno significativa di quella della scorsa settimana, ma che si lascia guardare.
I promo di Lawler funzionavano proprio per quello che lui rapppresentava... il logo della WWF dietro, il continuo insultare una federazione di cui i fan erano molto possessivi...
Lo squash a Louie Spicolli è l'ennesima dimostrazione che questi avrebbe lasciato di lì a poco... sfruttata per dare ulteriore spinta ad un Taz sempre più schiacciasassi.
Nonostante fosse clippato, ho apprezzato PG-13 vs Spike & Mikey, con la giusta combinazione di mosse veloci e comedy fornito dai rapper, un po' macchietta ma alla fine efficaci grazie al tizio sotto il ring che ferma Mikey, che si rivela essere Jason Knight, che ritorna in ECW dopo parecchio, ma è ancora contro il suo più classico avversario...
Lance Storm vs Tracy Smothers è una buona passerella per il canadese, che mostra le sue qualità contro tutti e tre gli "italiani purosangue" e ottiene una vittoria che vale...
E ci viene mostrato l'incidente scandaloso di Taz, che si rivela essere una maglietta di Raw data alle fiamme in mezzo al ring. La cosa non mi impressiona troppo, a dirla tutta, sapendo che alla fin fine con la WWF ci collaboravano, ma all'epoca magari suscitava più scompiglio...

Si inizia con un promo di Shane Douglas con Francine in costume da bagno di fronte all'oceano, in cui dice di aver ceduto apposta contro Taz perchè era stanco di portarsi dietro una cintura placcata oro, e ha intenzione di prendere il vero oro, il World Title, dalle mani di Funk. Se lo dice lui...
Quello a cui assistiamo nel primo match è la fine e il seppellimento del BWO da parte di Taz, frutto evidente della legittima incazzatura di Heyman per il passaggio di Stevie alla WCW. Continuo a pensare che Richards abbia fatto una gigantesca cavolata a lasciare la ECW in quel momento, aspettando qualche mese poteva lasciare un segno ben più grande in ECW... invece non riuscirà mai a scrollarsi di dosso la figura del lacchè. E ne avrebbero giovato anche Nova e Meanie...
Non so neanche come definire il 6-men tag team match... nel senso che c'è stata più attenzione per l'enorme confusione che è successa fuori che per quanto successo dentro il ring... dove peraltro sono rimasti perlopiù Shane Douglas e Balls Mahoney. Vittoria comunque per il Triple Threat contro i face...
Il promo di New Jack su Mustafa è in realtà una scusa per giustificare il fatto che c'erano realmente problemi tra Jack e Mustafa e probabilmente non era presente allo show. Comunque New Jack riesce a coprire bene la situazione, il promo è sentito.
Tutto il finale è dedicato alla costruzione dei big match di Heat Wave 97 (che non credo sia uscito, e di cui vedremo le parti più importanti durante hardcore TV): Dudleyz vs Gangstaz per i titoli di coppia, e RVD, Sabu & Lawler vs Dreamer, Sandman e ???, in una gabbia e Terry Funk vs Shane Douglas per il titolo del mondo.
